Title: Here's a hard truth for the hard right (by Michael Smerconish)

Who is Dede Scozzfava? ...

"This is my party, too," she insisted. "There are a lot of moderate people - Republicans, like me - and I'm hearing from an awful lot of them. And I think the Republican Party needs to know if they don't have room for us and they don't want us working with them, we're going to find a way to work against them."

She acknowledged that many in the GOP would differ with her support for abortion rights and same-sex marriage. But she maintained that she approached those views from a conservative vantage point - a respect for individual liberties...

Her gun-rights bona fides, meanwhile, are beyond reproach. She received an A rating from the National Rifle Association in each election since 2002 (A-plus in 2000) and supported the New York Gun Owners of America in 100 percent of the relevant votes in 2002...

On Thursday, I asked former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who had called Scozzafava's nomination a "train wreck," whether the GOP was better off with Owens headed to Washington. "No, not at all," he said. "The danger of pushing third-party candidates is that you end up with a Democrat rather than a less-than-desirable Republican." ...

Doodoo Scuzzbucket was not a moderate Republican. Many of her stances were to the left of Owens. If as she claims, she is truly a republican, then she would have thrown her support to the conservative candidate, not the DimRat.  However like a typical petulant child, like most DimRats, she threw her support to the one that didn't knock her out of the race.

What a bunch of bullshit.  Scuzzybutt was a moderate Democrat in a moderate Republican's clothing.  Gun rights?  Oooo!  Whoop-dee-shit!  Lots of Democrats promote gun rights, which is why liberals have never had a chance in hell of banning guns as much as they want.  Scuzzwad showed her true colors when she endorsed the Democrat after dropping out of the race and I have little doubt that cost the conservative candidate the race (i.e. it tipped the balance of undecideds).  She can go **** herself ten times over and hopefully never darken the political stage with her shit-spewing presence ever again.

Minus the invective, I agree with Jinx.  She blew any credibility she might have had when she endorsed the Dem.

I really couldn't give a tinker's God-Damn.

This bitch was a raving moonbat, no two ways about it.  Her DimRat opponent was another (Arlen) Spectre type; couldn't sucker enough (R)s to vote him into power when he ran as a "moderate", limp-dick under the (R)-banner, so he became a switch hitter, and ran as a (D) this time around.

All the NY-23 race showed - and illuminated quite clearly - was that candidates being favored by BOTH of the major parties are as inter-****in-changable as a 3-pack of tighty-whiteys.  The people they supposedly represent don't matter a damn; the only thing that matters is the preservation of the two-party power structure in it's current - intolerably evil (see the definition of "government" by Thomas Jefferson for full context) - form.

Somebody copied a sigline over as part of a quote from somewhere else, that I agree with wholeheartedly:
Quote
America is in a very precarious time of it's existence:  too late to correct the problems plaguing her from within the system, and too soon to shoot the bastards that did this to her.

Someone who is endorsed by DailyKos as Scuzzwad was is no moderate.

As a Philly guy, I can tell you that Smerconish has become beyond unlistenable. He's right on Mumia and the War on Terror, but pretty much wrong on everything else.

I case you don't know who Michael Smerconish is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Smerconish)

I know who she is: A dyke nobody fake Republican with 12 followers whom makes Kool-Aid swilling nobody's (you) swoon every time she whips out the turkey baster and asks you to sit down.
She is just another America hating Medusa looking no-dates, no-dances dog faced lezzy and will say anything against righteous Americans that will fuel the hateful resentments rolling around in her head. Resentments mind you that drive her "hair on fire, foam at the mouth" crazy while no one else on the planet even knows she exists.

I get wood over her and your angst.
Carry on...

Which is why the Libertarian party is such a mish mash of conflicting notions so they make up for it with screeching hyperbole and chest pounding.

I know she ran as a (R) but that is the way the Libertarians excuse their social liberalism under the guise of being conservatives.

Golem...before I make any real comment...are you supporting what Smerconish said or just pointing out how out of touch the NY GOP leadership is with it's voting base?

Didn't Skin's island run ads for Scozzafavabeans?  Yeah, that pretty much says it all.

Yeah, I gotta stop that.  It's difficult, though, when I'm constantly presented with garbage.

No. I'm not supporting Smerconish or Scozzafava. I posted the article because I thought it would be interesting.

I frequently post articles with which I disagree, but I rarely post barf alerts with them.

This is soooooooooooooooooooo easy.

Yes, moderates are wanted and needed.  Are we in agreement on economic free market ideas and capitalism?  Yes.  Are we in favor of a strong military? Yes.  Do we agree on social conservatism?  No.  But a majority of the Republicans are there partly because of the party's sance on abortion and tinkerbelle marriage, so the social moderates and liberals need to stand aside and not concern themselves with it.

Quote from:
"If people took the time to really know who I was, they would have a Republican member of Congress today," Scozzafava told me.

That was up to you.  The only people who had a say in your election were those in your district that voted, not those who heard about you from TV and/or radio and disagreed with you.

Ok just making sure.  I didn't want to jump to any conclusions.

IMHO they are both so far off track they couldn't get back on it with a map and a flashlight.

Reagan style conservatism WINS every time it's run.  And yet all we hear from the "experts" is that if we want to be "liked" we have to move more to the left.

Bullsh*t.  I odn't know any better way to express it.

And the talking heads can say there's a civil war and that "extremeists" are taking over the party...but that too is a charade.

They say that to try and mask the fact that someone who was a political unknown 30 days before a general election not only rose so much in popularity with the Republicans that he forced the "chosen" GOP candidate to drop out...he came within a whisker of defeating Owens.

Now imagine if he'd had more than just national recognition for more than just a month.

He periodically fills in on 969WTKK in Boston - He is what happens when a Conservative leaning host falls in love with Obama. Its a sad thing, really.

BTW, Sometimes he fills in for conservative show hosts, other times for liberal ones. - Making sure everyone is happy and disappointed at the same time.

In Smerconish's defense, he has never called himself conservative.

In Smerconish's defense, he has never called himself conservative.

Perhaps not, but until he became an OBot, he was a consistent Republican voter, and fell on the right side of most issues. - Now he is one of those 'let's not criticize The President because he has a hard job to do, and needs our support' type.

The last thing we need is more people enabling an out of control administration even further than it is enabling itself.
