Title: Working Wednesday
Post by: NHSparky on November 11, 2009, 08:32:09 AM
Still here.  Weather going back to a more fall-like timber.  Calling for the usual highs in the upper 40's and lows in the mid-upper 20's.  At least the lawn care company made it out to my place yesterday.  Looks like they did a very good job--even got the culvert at the front by the road, which I didn't expect.  So I've got leaves gone, lawn fertilized and lime applied.

More stuff breaking, generator breaker STILL not closed yet.  No idea when we'll be coming off shift, but I'm pretty sure my weekend (at least part of it) will be here.  Best case scenario: work Saturday and Sunday (at OT/DT rate) and get administrative day Monday before coming back for a "shortened" work week.  Worst case--still get only one day off (Sat or Sun) and no admin day on Monday; aka full work week.  Any extra cash going to pay off lawn guys and set aside a heating oil fund.

Other than that, my ass is dragging about 30 feet behind me.  IOW, typical outage crap.

No day off over here.  It shouldn't be too bad though.

My company has a Veterans Day reception every year to honor our employees who served.  It is a quiet thing, we just open up a conference room, and the Vets get to eat all kinds of goodies, and talk amonst themselves.  I was new last year, but this year my bosses asked if I would like to hostess it, and I said yeah!  Looking forward to a little bright spot in the h-e-double toothpicks I call work.

Sunny, breezy and cool this morning with a high near 60.  I'll take it for November. Finally some benefit of that glowbull warming.

Cool and cloudy here in Denton. I'm skipping my normal Con Law class to sit in and help teach a friend's history class.

Then to my school's Veteran's Day events and work.

After that, a full evening of writing papers and homework.

grrrrrrrrrr..... :banghead:

Started typing in a report...only to realize that property is listed by an agent in my office. Which requires an immediate phone call to QC. Of course I get India....and of course they have to follow specific printed set of rules. In other words...I lose the order....and the money.  :(  If I had gotten Utah, I might have been able to complete it.

Rained forever yesterday.....supposedly we got just a bit less than 2 inches.  :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: They obviously didn't get the same amount we did. It was a steady rain from well before daybreak, never stopped and still going at 11 last night. This was from "Ida" and there was no wind...today, it isn't raining, but we have wind.

Need to go to the grocery store. I want to fix something different....but haven't figured out what it's going to be yet. Needs to be comfort food.

Really shitty morning, lost a good friend and coworker this morning in an industrial accident.  He was only about 30 years old and married just over a month.  Really shitty, prayers for his widow and parents... ****

Rainy here...no work or school for anyone.  No motivation to get much done, either!

Aw, jeez.  Never a good time to have something like that happen, but that's gotta be the worst.

Sorry to hear that, Gratiot. Sincere condolences.

Sorry, gratiot. :(

Spent all day painting. Mom and Dad came over and helped. The walls look great! With the accents walls (one in kitchen, one in living room), the only space looks pulled in, warmer, and cozier. I'm so in love with it.

I just have the baseboards, trim, and some touch-ups to do. I would also like to try and knock out the hallway before Turkey Day but if it doesn't happen, that will be OK too.
