In tandem with Mr. Wiggums' most-excellent Top Ten DUmmies, franksolich is soliciting nominations for the Top Stories from Skins's island this past year.
I dunno if there's going to be 10 top stories, or 20 top stories, or 5 top stories or 13 top stories; we'll see how this goes.
I'd like to collect nominations until Thanksgiving Day, and then have voting through mid-December, releasing the winning stories just before Christmas.
The time covered should be, basically, any top story from Skins's island beginning with the electoral success of Bo in November 2008, up to the present.
Stories such as:
--the wedding of the Bostonian Drunkard
--the mausoleuming of the lying tits primitive
--the gay purge
--the Gloria Swanson-greenbriar primitive feud
--the lounge purge
--the subway cat's new beloved
--Fat Che's little brother loses his home
and so on and so on.
The emphasis being upon the story, not any particular primitive.
Links aren't needed at the moment; just recollections of what one considers the most-remarkable stories of Skins's island this past year. Later, if I can't find a link, I'll ask.

How about greenbriar's bouncy lie about the black student who said she'd like to be greenbriar's slave, and then the DUmmies eviscerating her for such an obvious and offensive lie.

Yeah, that would be under the story of the Gloria Swanson-greenbriar primitive feud.

This one is memorable for me because it was a bouncy extraordinaire, posted by a DUmmy near and dear to my heart. A DUmmy who has gone head to head with me on other websites. A DUmmy who has a proclivity for shoplifting hemp lipgloss during Kennedyesque ambien fugues. I give you: the "I was verbally abused by a Rethuglican candidate on my doorstep" story:

--the investment "advice" of the Twix candy bar primitive
These don't have to be single bonfires; a series of bonfires makes the "story."

ThomWV claimed to have saved money by pulling his own teeth, and wearing them on a necklace.

I'd have to say the TiT Jewish hate debacle was the big one. Greenbriar vs. tangerinelabamba was one of the better side stories of late.

The surprise emergence of the cooking and baking forum as a major forum on Skins's island might be a big story, too, I think.

The one that came to mind immediately was the one I had to scream "THIS IS THE STUPIDEST F***ING THING I EVER HEARD AT THE DUMP!" It was the one where the DUmmies were outraged, and calling selfish, the republican friend of one of them, who had decided to self-health-insure. And had no regrets.
Another one that came to mind for some reason just this morning. I was brand new here, and the headline read "DUmmies think Gitmo prisoners are hawt." They were so sure of their innocence, and one of them wanted to have a bunch of them over to her house and make them dinner. I couldn't believe my eyes, and so I was hooked on the DUmpster.

When was the greenbriar cabana boy cruise? Was that this year or last?
Then there's the whole drama of Doug's exwife rose uprooting trauma and her eventual move to mommies (which sort of makes the rose drama moot).
The decline of the Bostonian Drunkard as a respected figure.
The search for a new DUmmie writer...and the sheer unreadability of many of them who imagine themselves the next Walden...or Pitt.
The impact of the rec/unrec feature on the DUmmies' psyche.
The vitriol on most "I hate Christians" threads are pretty entertaining. I'm sure there'll be a few more now since they'll feel compelled to "prove" Christians are just as "evil" as Hassan and his ilk.

Definitely the expulsion of the Gay Police tops the agenda.
I also like the photographer primitive -- Carlos something or other ? And his story of 'Fightin' Da Man' way down in Florida.
And finally the Ups, Downs, Ins and Outs (well maybe not the Ins and Outs) of the Fat Che's Little Brothert Beer primitive.

They seem to be getting better all the time - the longer that their old nemisis, G.W. Bush is out of the picture, the crazier they are getting.

I think the cooking and baking should have its own category. The adventures of the 50 lbs. of garlic come to mind. Cali's $30 pot of tea, for "those on a budget" who can't afford anything on her menu.

You know, sir, it's very peculiar.
conservativecave has a thread about that, a very old thread, and it still draws traffic; in fact, it's one of the "most-read" threads in the DUmpster.
There's nobody looking at it right now (6:00 p.m. central time, 5:00 p.m. mountain time, Wednesday), but usually there's at least one (but more often more than one) "guest" reading it. Every day.
It's just very odd.
