Which one is in the tank for 0Bama?
October retail sales fall short for many. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091105/bs_nm/us_usa_retail) Reuters

October sales offer relief to merchants. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091105/ap_on_bi_go_ec_fi/us_retail_sales) AP

Wow, right from the first sentence the difference is striking.

Yet, to take some of the points from the AP story, one of the reasons for lower sales numbers was a lack of goods at the stores, which were responding to reduced demand.  Tell me, how does reduced demand for retail goods translate to a recovery and a reason for retailers to see "relief"?

They don't have to tie up their time with those pesky 'Sales' or 'Customers,' of course, and can spend more time writing 'Thank you' letters to his Obamaness.
