The move comes on the heels of a new poll that showed Republican Dede Scozzafava had fallen behind her two competitors in a race too close.

Republican state Assemblywoman Dierdre Scozzafava has suspended her campaign for upstate New York's 23rd Congressional seat, leaving Democratic nominee Bill Owens and Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman in the race that will conclude Tuesday.
The move comes on the heels of a new poll that showed Scozzafava had fallen behind her two competitors in a race too close.
The Siena College poll has Owens picking up 36 percent of the vote, while Hoffman has 35 percent. Scozzafava has 20 percent, with nine percent of voters undecided.

Really. I saw what the party did to Sarah after the election. Thats not my party.

Scozzafava didn't endorse either of the remaining candidates, opting instead to allow her supporters make their own choice.
Goes to show that endorsing conservative policies and values were never part of the equation with her or her backers.

It wouldn't surprise me after hearing about her. It may not be enough to overcome the Obama curse though.

she only suspended the campaign. hasn't conceded. her name will still be on the ballot.
How many RINOs will peel in either direction? How many uninformed RINOs will vote for her anyway? Would they go with "the enemy you know"? Would they listen to Newt et al and keep up the fire on Hoffman?

The election is 72 hours out. Her name would have been on the ballot anyway.

She ran as a republican but won't endorse a republican. She can't even return the party loyalty she demanded.

Based on what I've seen of this woman, classy she ain't........she just got mugged by reality.

Based on Steele already telling Reps to support Hoffman.....I would venture a guess that Scozzafava didn't voluntarily step aside. I would say it was strongly suggested to her....

To be fair to Scuzzy(?), there was a piece on RedState maybe a week or so ago to the effect that she was considering defecting to the Dems anyway.

I agree with Newt. I'd rather control the House and Senate, however it's done. If you want to influence who the candidate is, go after those 11 county chairmen's seats, don't attack the party's candidate. What's been done has been effective, and Hoffman may be the better candidate, but it was a reactionary and lazy way to get it done.

Maybe, just maybe those 11 will be voted out next time. Did all eleven choose Scozzafava, or was there a split vote? Then again, maybe in a primary the voters would have picked Hoffman to start with.

For her to stab the party in the back and endorse the Democrat, it seems that they didn't have the reins on her in the least and she is just looking for the most $$$ from anyone who'll pay her it for her signet stamp.

It was lazy to not hold a primary and just do a backroom deal. Actually there was a lot of laziness all the way around in the Republican Establishment and the Conservative Party did what it was set up to do when that happens.
It's like what happened in Honduras which the mainstream media insists on calling a coup when what happened is what was set up to happen when certain circumstances were met.

Horseshit. We let the party leadership in NH pick the candidates, and all they did was put up limp-dick RINO's instead of conservatives who got their heads handed to them. We're now basically North Massholistan, and Fergus the Mouth-Breather got thrown out on his ass, to be replaced by John "Papa Doc" Sununu. We'll see if he listens. So far, the signs (Kelly Ayotte for Judd Gregg's Senate seat, Frank Gunita for Che's 1CD seat) are promising, but I want to see what they're going to do on the LOCAL (state Rep and Senate) level.

I guess that's why the morons spent almost all of their time running against her than McCain. I guess that's why they're so threatened by her. I guess that's the reason they're trying tirelessly to take her down, to no avail.
Being an independent conservative, I will always vote for the fiscal conservative. If they throw a RINO up at me again, I'll go 3rd party. Screw it. We need some men and women with some balls to get this beast that is the fed back on a damn leash.
