1. Rigged numbers don't rate a woo-hoo.

More likely, it's a bump in the road, and the road is going downhill.

No jobs, no recovery.

14. no GDP, no jobs

GDP growth instead of contraction is a real number.

30. How much more of a right-wing talking point can you come up with?

"this was gov spending money we do not have"

The rest of the bonfire's pretty much like that quoted above.

What do you expect from the DUmp. During the Reagan Boom, they were starving. During the Bush Prosperity, they were starving and their civil rights were trashed. So it's hard for them to see the sunbeams of the obombanation.

Well, the numbers are out....unemployment is 19%+ in my county.
...and the Obama voters are still looking for their horse.

Well, 'Starving' probably isn't the right word for it, 'Malnourished' would be more like it.  A diet of four thousand calories a day made up of nothing but carbs, grease, and sugars with the odd vegetable thrown in isn't really 'Starving.'

But, but, the vegetables are "organic".....

And in the news next month that 3.5% or whatever it was growth will be a 10% loss.
Maybe they will bring back cash for clunkers so we can pay 24k per car again.  :banghead:

They should be fit-to-be-tied angry with growth of 3.5%.  I mean, all that evil capitalism and stuff.

That's still a lot cheaper than what it costs us to move deadbeats from point A to point B on public transit or "light rail".

But we're not going to just throw money at the problem.  Obama said that during the debates.  Nope.  It's going to be an intelligent, well-planned solution and by God, it's going to work!

Yeah.

That is NOT capitalism, that is all government spending of borrowed money. That should not count in the GDP it should count as a liability

My yardstick is deposit bottles. They dissapear from the underbrush when recessions are in bloom. Mild recession, Coke and Pepsi and "Bud" vanish, worse, all vanish, even dR. pEPPER. Good times, they are everywhere.

They are all gone, not even any flat "road kill" cans anywhere. When they start showing up, and accumulate to, say, 20+ in one area before being collected, we've got recession.  And so we do. And will until Barry stops SPENDING AND SPENDING AND SPENDING........

What do ya 'spose the $8,000 per house credit on first time buyers in the housing industry is costing us? Should be about 4 times as much as cash for clunkers, if that hand out is any indication.

That credit has to be paid back on said homebuyers' income taxes over the next 10 years.

There has been all sorts of fraud involved with it already, but that isn't stopping the DimRats wanting to extend it, also.

I'll save any woo-hooing for when the S&P trends upward through about 1250 and unemployment goes below 8%, thankyouverymuch.

What happens early next year when the 4th quarter results show an even poorer performance, the
Anointed One then can't blame Bush for the downturn. (Yeah, yeah, I know Bush will be blamed for everything.) The "recovery" at best lasts for another 4 to 6 months, then the Anointed One's request
for fees, assessments, or just plain taxes will grind the economy down even further.

James Carville was right......It's the economy, stupid! Wouldn't it be poetic justice if the Reps would start
using that slogan against Obama?

In the end, by November, 2012, you won't find a lot of people who will admit that they voted for Obama.

Back during the "Bush Recession" many primitves that I argued with on another site refused to use the GDP as a measure of how well the economy was doing.

Funny to see them cheering about it now.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the unspent billions of the stimulus package will be spent next spring and summer in attempt to influence the economy just prior to the elections.

Many first time buyers qualify for the earned income credit. They don't pay taxes! I doubt they will have to pay anything back. In fact, I'll lay odds we end up handing them more of our money thru our taxes.

While the homebuyers may have to pay back the $8k credit, I heard the other day that that $8k credit actually cost the taxpayer around $43k per homebuyer.

True....much of it is scheduled for next year, however, it will be spent largely on public works, which has a minimal effect on the GDP.......it might drop the unemployment rate a point or so, but until consumer spending rebounds (which is unlikely in the short term.....down .5% last month) we won't see improvement in manufactured goods, and since there is no mortgage money out there, housing starts are likely to remain flat.

Most large and mid cap companies are still cutting expenses until they see a spike in earnings, and that will do nothing to improve the GDP either.....and they (as well as small business) are going to sit on the sidelines until they get a handle on where the government is going next........virtually everyone in the private sector is taking a "hide and watch" position right now.

Further, the recent changes in credit card regulation has removed the dumbasses who run out and max out a half dozen cards, out of the market, which further depresses recovery (rightfully so, I might add), but facts are facts.

Nope. 2008 tax credits are repayable over 15 years. With the 2009 credit you only have to pay it back if you sell in less than 3 years. If you do the 3 then you're good to go with no repayment.

Is fully refundable, meaning the credit will be paid out to eligible taxpayers, even if they owe no tax or the credit is more than the tax owed.

It's the last item in the Overview section. Obummer really wants to give away some money.

This was estimate soon to be revised dramatically down and the fourth quarter is going to be negative.

Remember boys and girls that Obama promised 2.5 million jobs CREATED by now.  Instead they have managed to shed 3.5 million making a 6.5 million job deficit.  Just think what they can do with hell care.

Everything you all write is true. To turn the econoy around, Gvt. must STOP SPENDING and go on a diet too.  But ther Obama plan is to impoverish the nation for reasons I cannot even guess at. He Hates America?

Then Gvt. spending needs to be on Roads, expidited construction permits for NUCLEAR energy, ELIMINATING the preposterous law extending legal standing to "enviornmental" groups were sans that law there would be NO LEGAL STANDING, free up the permits for the maglev from LA to Vegas,  permits issued and tax advantage for nat gas to synthetic diesel/oil/gasoline "refineries" and so on and so on.

But that would imply Obama wants to bwe president of a Great, healthy, growing nation. Something he clearly does not want.
