Obama unhappy with criticism of his NYC date night

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama says only once since Jan. 20 has White House life annoyed him.

It was the Saturday in May when, trying to be a good husband, he kept a campaign promise to take his wife, Michelle, to New York after the election for one of their "date nights" - dinner and a Broadway play.

Conservative commentators and Republican officials criticized him for doing so.

"People made it into a political issue," Obama told The New York Times Magazine for an article about the Obamas' marriage, appearing in the Nov. 1 issue. The article was posted on the Times' Web site on Wednesday.

"If I weren't president, I would be happy to catch the shuttle with my wife to take her to a Broadway show, as I had promised her during the campaign, and there would be no fuss and no muss and no photographers," he said. "That would please me greatly."

Presidents, however, don't travel by any means other than secure government aircraft or vehicles.

What a thin skinned,immature imbecile.
President Bush was attacked every day for everything he did and always shook it off and carried on with dignity and courtesy.

I fear greatly the decisions (or Carter like indecisions) this asshat is going to make given how whiny he is to any bit of criticism.

Dear Zero,

It ain't the fact you had a "date night".  It's the fact you spent a shitload of OUR MONEY in the process.

How could he possibly be pissed about anything when he's rarely in the WH (because of his incessant campaigning) and he's usually either on the golf course or bowing to some asswipe king?

You'd think he was trying to rack up frequent flyer miles in AF1.

Asshat.  :loser:

Exactly....and 80% - or more - of the country has cut way back on their entertainment activities because they can't afford it...and no one else is going to pay for it!!!

Why doesn't someone ask ME what about the "White House" annoys ME? :censored:

And after "He" told us we had to sacrifice for the good of the world. Practice what you preach, jackass.

Bingo--when I was married, date night might consist of a concert, or a ballgame, or dinner somewhere IN THE VICINITY OF WHERE WE LIVED, not an hour plane ride away.

Perhaps no one told him that some jobs mean that you can't live life they way you might want to and sacrifices need to be made. No? Oh well ...

Hell, that's a special occasion date for us!  Date night around here involves and bottle of wine (usually less than $10) and what ever foodstuff we feel like fixing.  Then we threaten the kids with bodily harm to not bug us, and we hide in our room and watch a movie or something!

What a fragile ego...soldiers are dying in Afghanistan and he's worried about date night.  This proves how out of touch he is.

Yes, out of touch with his testicles.  Say what you want about Bush - there's plenty of good and bad - but he was far too classy, too mature to bother with such petty foolishness.  It was clearly beneath his dignity and that of the office.

Obama's at the big boy table now; he needs to act like it.

Why was it so important for him to keep that campaign promise? He kept no others.
