Title: World Series
Post by: Odin's Hand on October 28, 2009, 03:51:11 PM
This thing could go either way. I like the starting pitching for the Phillies better, but, Lidge...well, he is a bum.

Head to head pitcher rankings:

Lee vs. Sabathia (wash)
Hamels vs. Burnett (Hamels)
Martinez vs. Pettite (Pettite)

Lineups are a wash, also. I think it will come down to managerial decisions, bullpens and closers. Riviera or Lidge...? (::))

Don't forget the umpires making bad calls.  :fuelfire:

MLBA should send Tim McClelland to San Diego, Seattle or something for the WS. Far, far away from the NE.

Andy Pettite is sooooo cute...he's also a genuine Christian.

Pedro is pitching Game 2 against Burnett.  The Phils are saving Hamels to pitch Game 3 at home in a more friendly atmosphere.

I say Yankees in 7, and Sabathia gets the MVP.

The Kansas City Royals never made it, alas, so I'm going with America's team.

Go George!

That could backfire. Lee just stepped it up a notch tonight. That curve had the Yankees cross-eyed.

Lee was fantastic in striking out 10 and that was a great behind the back catch. Go Phils

Who says they are Americas team? Just because they have some egotistical ass that spends over a biliion dollars in payroll over a certain time span? Please Frank I know you to be a smart man, they phills are a better team AND are the world champs give them some credit.

Hate to break it to you Frank the phills are going to win in 6 or fewer games.

They sent a message tonight.

WTH are you talking about, coach?  Have you forgotten 1985 so soon?

Hope springs eternal.

One of these days the Kansas City Royals will make it again.

I'm into things for the long haul--it's going to be another forty-two years before Nebraska football returns to its former glory, but as long as it's inevitable, I'm willing to wait.

America's team?  (short pause while I puke)  Maybe somewhere south of the canal, where smirking en masse may be the norm.  There is only one America's Team and they are not in the playoffs.

GO PHILLIES!  (GO PEDRO!)

The Cubs didn't even come close this year.

I don't like the move by Manuel to throw Pedro against Burnett in NYC. Both could be shelled, though. Burnett needs to go at least 7.

I think it is pretty even tonight as far as hurlers. I'll take the Phillies at home.

"They" say the more you understand baseball, the more you enjoy it. I admit to not being the best fan. I'll probably watch all of ten games all year, until the playoffs start. (average 1 live game a year, sometimes more, sometimes none)

But i do like rooting against the Yankee's and damn it all, they look good tonight. What's up with the Philly pitching tonight?

Hamels has been a headcase all year. He's been the two extremes: great and terrible.

Two stolen bases in one play and then the Yanks take the lead again. Fark it, I'm going to bed.

Actually, pitchers and catchers report in the middle of February.  I think that the Winter Meetings are next week, and the free-agent signing period starts in two weeks.

I notice Drudge, as usual, is biased.

Not a word about America's team winning the World Series.

If it had been any other team, Drudge would have the flashing siren and a big headline.

It's sort of like how Drudge will cover heavily a minor hurricane down in Florida, but mention not at all a massive blizzard that blankets the Upper Great Plains states.

Well, that's because American's team wasn't in the World Series.

Seems there were no looting of department stores, flipping cars and setting them upon fire, etc. last night in New York after the Yankees win. What a difference a year makes.

That's because the new jumbotron told them to "CHEER" and "GET LOUD" instead of "LOOT" and "SET FIRES".
