Support for ban on semi-automatic firearms drops below 50% (NBC News/Wall Street Journal survey)

Out of a sampling of 1,009 adults from October 22-25, the poll indicates that support for a new ban on "assault weapons" has plummeted from 75% in May 1991 to only 49% today.

It's a lonely bonfire; only one primitive's showed up at it.

That's the problem with the whole "if it bleeds it leads" news mentality: people think we're at historically high levels of violence in this country when in fact they are historically low.

I t could also be that "assault weapons" are not used in crimes and handguns are perhaps even more useful to the good guys.

Gun Control has nothing to do with crime, never has. It has everything to do with being able to control people. Ask Mao, Adolf, and Uncle Joe. Oh, wait, they already have, which is why they're just dying to get their hands on them.
