October 22nd, 2009Uncategorized
I got an email today congratulating me. I had no idea what I was being congratulated for until I looked at the Huffington Post website! HuffPost just released an articled titled “ADOLESCENT ACTIVISTS: 7 Young People Making A Difference” and I’m included in the list. I’m honored to be on the list and appreciate the support.

As a new string of youth activists have shown, you’re never too young or inexperienced to start making a difference in your community. HuffPost Impact is proud to detail the stories of the following young people, dedicating their time and energy in service to others
Vote on who you think is the biggest difference-maker!

You can read the article and vote at the link below.

Also, the video I’m currently working on for one of my film classes will be done in a couple weeks. At that time I’ll be posting it here along with a more detailed update from NYC!

It's bad enough to be young and dumb.

It's really bad to be young, dumb, fat and ugly with an attitude.

19 is "adolescent?"  Well, I guess they could be referring to the adjective form of the word: "emotionally or intellectually immature."  That fits.

And seeing that she's 19 now, I guess it's not creepy for me to comment on her massive knockers... :evillaugh:

Something tells me that Huffington post probably didn't involve conservative 'activists' like teenage missionaries or youth involved in the pro-life movement. I'm sure all these 'activists' are all leftist mouthpieces.  :whatever:

“ADOLESCENT ACTIVISTS: 7 Young People Making A Difference”

SEVEN.....JUST SEVEN.....is that all the left has to offer?

The right has a few hundred thousand young people to offer who are making a difference.....they are called Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen.

A quick look at the link showed me that other than this "little butterball" (really?  WOW.) nearly all are accomplishing relief/missionary work, one autism awareness worker, and a homeless advocate.   Of course it is huffpo, so they had to throw in the obligatory lefty activist.  I would pass out if they chose a pro-life worker.

Let's take a look at Ava's competition:

Quote
An advocate for homeless youth, Bonner created the Little Red Wagon Foundation, and plans to walk 2,300 miles across America next year to raise awareness.

Quote
Adopted at age three out of her native Peru, 17-year-old Ana Dodsen grew up privileged in the U.S. However, her Peruvian roots always beckoned her, and at 11, her adopted parents took her back to visit the land she barely remembered. Devastated by the poverty she saw in Peruvian orphanages, Dodsen founded Peruvian Hearts, an organization that provides much needed support and supplies to needy children in Peru. Dodsen has spoken in front of the UN and her work has been featured on CNN.

Quote
At age 16 in 2001, Shuyler founded AfricAid, an organization aimed at improving girls' education in Africa. She's since raised nearly $700,000 to support these efforts and won pretty much every youth service award imaginable.

Quote
The daughter of Three Cups of Tea author Greg Mortenson, Amira produced the Three Cups of Tea CD, proceeds of which go to benefit Hand Me Down Some Silver, an organization that provides music education for young people. She also works with Pennies For Peace, which builds on the work started in the elder Mortenson's book to establish schools for women in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Quote
When Emily saw the affect Asperger's Syndrome was having on her brother, she decided to take matters into her own hands and raise money for autism research. Follow her Twitter feed and find out where she'll be setting up her next lemonade stand (and it's sure to be at least slightly healthier than Kogi BBQ).

Quote
A modern day Renaissance Man, 13-year-old Bilaal Rajan has raised money for dozens of causes, including disaster relief, HIV/AIDS orphans, and schools for impoverished communities. To raise awareness for underprivileged young people, Rajan goes barefoot each year for National Volunteer Week. He was made an official UNICEF ambassador at age eight.

As for Ava:

Quote
During the Bush administration, Ava Lowery created Flash-based animations in protest of the Iraq War and other Republican policies. Now 19, she runs the site Peace Takes Courage, where she posts videos and blogs about ending violence.

Oh, yeah.  Sitting on her fat, bloated, self-centered ass making "animations" about dead babies and soldiers on her mom's computer really makes her deserving to be mentioned alongside those other young people.

I just posted a comment over there.  I don't expect it will be approved.

Quote
Why is Ava Lowery included? First of all, at 19, she's no "adolescent" (unless you're using the adjective form of the word). Most importantly, however, she has done nothing even close to what these other wonderful young people have done. The others have all donated time, raised money, founded organizations, etc. all to improve the world they live in. What has Ava done? Created "animations" of dead babies and soldiers on her mom's computer? Complained about the last administration? How is that comparable to what the others have done? Give me a break!

EDIT:  Hey, wow!  They did approve it.  I'm honestly surprised.  Wonder if DU will notice.   :evillaugh:

Hell, I wouldn't trade one Hannah for seven Avas.

Looks like Ava isn't even the oldest one on that list. One chick is like 25. Guess they ran out of names and had to scrape the barrel a little.

Perhaps they were basing it more on how they acted than on their actual age in describing the contestants as "adolescent"

I didn't look so that's good to hear, but I still think it's kind of insulting to have someone like butterball in the list with missionaries and autism awareness worker. I hardly think advocating for the care of the disabled and a cure for the puzzle that is autism or working to save souls while bringing charitable relief is on the same level of Bush hating, but what do I know;-) The others seem to be a force for humanity and positive and the other a campaign of negativity against one person and how they handled a necessary war. If butterball were actively bringing aid and relief to displaced Iraquis(not the terrorists, but those caught up in their war for independence from such), for example, I'd see her purpose there.

Ava's dropping like a stone.  She was ranked #4 this morning, but has since dropped to #7 (out of 7).   :rotf:

Isn't Ava or some FReeper a candidate for something on the Woeking Families Party (ACORN) ticket?

I agree she shouldn't be on that list.  Made animations?  Wonder what she thinks about Obama now, with the terrible casualties we've had.

I looked at her stuff online.  I figured out who she reminds me of.  With that weird mouth, and the gigantic head...Eleanor Roosevelt.

The resemblance is only physical. From all indications, Eleanor Roosevelt was an intelligent lady.
