Oh my.
This is the primitive once known as the "RG Bolen" primitive, who doesn't like small-town folk:

Issued seat belt violation ticket tonight, 6th one this year. Gave the officer the same answer when he asked why I wasn't wearing it. Told him it isn't comfortable to wear. This one said he didn't want me to die on HIS roads. I, of course informed him that the roads belong to the public and there was no way he could care if I live or die.
Why he felt the need to add such to the is unexplainable.
Hmmm. One wonders if the pollen primitive is, uh, pretty stout or something.
It's an enormous bonfire.

3. Your driving without a seatbelt is a danger to everyone else.
We don't want to have to spend public money scraping you off the pavement with a shovel, so wear your seatbelt or stay home. The seatbelt keeps you in the car, behind the wheel, in front of the airbag, and not dying or getting seriously injured from a 30 mph crash.

I hate working fatal motor vehicle collisions. It's possible his concern for your life is motivated by self protection.

15. Hot damn but this is gonna be a fun thread!!!
To be honest, franksolich hasn't paid much attention to the pollen primitive, the primitive who lit this bonfire, even though the pollen primitive is a PoP.
But apparently other primitives have, and at this bonfire link to other bonfires the pollen primitive's lit in the past, that engendered much merriment and astonishment that the pollen primitive's not the brightest bulb in the socket.
It's such a big bonfire, I'll quote only snippets from here.

49. crisis averted
Not wearing a seatbelt?! That's nuts. It's the most important safety practice for driving, except making sure no three year old is behind the car when you back out.

152. I do not check for 3-year-olds behind the car. That is the parent's responsibility.

35. If you're not in your seatbelt, you can't stay behind the wheel.
If you can't stay behind the wheel, you can't control your auto in a crash at all. That makes your car a problem for me and every other person on or near the road.
Understand this. It's not your decision. The decision has been made by the State. If you want to drive a vehicle, wear a seatbelt. Just because you're incapable of understanding the reasons doesn't mean we let you drive without a seatbelt.
They ought to take your license away.

36. I have never and will never wear one. Many officers laugh and let you go when you tell them you don't wear it.

161. I live for threads like this.
This bonfire's well worth getting out the boat and rowing over to Skins's island to see in its entirety, whether one wishes to get amusement out of the primitives squibble-squabbling with other primitives, or enlightenment about the use of seat-belts.
Surprising, not a trite or unamusing comment in the whole batch.
franksolich wore seat-belts long before the law required it, but on the other hand, as long as the law doesn't regulate other risky behavior (such as that which causes AIDS), franksolich is a little leery of seat-belt laws.
And franksolich wouldn't mind it at all if the drek primitives didn't wear seat-belts.

It wouldn't be a concern if they weren't likely to default on the costs of saving their life or become a burden of the state.

Fun fact: Even with a seat belt many people still "submarine out." This is when the body slides out underneath the lap belt. Now a five point harness completely stops this but this type of restraint is illegal. That's right if you are pulled over in kalifornia and have a five point on you will get a rather expensive ticket the same as if you did not have a belt on at all. This is because in the infinite and divine wisdom of the State the definition of seat belt one must be able to put said belt on with one hand.
Look for more and more states giving rather large fines for no seat belt as it is a great revenue generator.

I did not know 5-pt seat belts were illegal, I'm okay with the 3 pters though
