Tough question eh? Hat tip to FARK for the topic idea btw.
I looked hard at the Mustang's and Vette's from my year but the style just was not right for me. (I like the 60's versions for those guys) Lucky enough, for this topic, I did fall into the muscle car years. Yippee! I "settled" on the 1972 Oldsmoble Cutlass 442. Convertable natch.

1980 isn't exactly a vintage year for autos. Bring back the Ford Bronco!

I would be a Bently S2

OH HELL NO ....NOT A '58
In 1963 as a teenager I got rooked into putting a starter on a '58 T-Bird.....you gotta remove the motor mounts and raise the engine up a few inches to put a damn starter on them.......you never forget those hard lessons.
Modified to add.....But you might forget some parts, like having to take the headers loose and the transmission supports. An old mechanic that knew what was what about the '58 T-birds was laughing his ass off the whole time I was doing the job.

1945...hmmmm....I guess it would have to be a IH Farmall M or a John Deere A tractor because I don't believe they made any cars that year. (WW2 and all)

Was there any good cars in 1977? I really want a '73 Impalla, like in "Supernatural".
-
I can't get photobucket to work this morning.
Consult my avatar for the best automobile of my birth-year, the 1923 Model T Ford.

The short answer for domestic cars is "No."
Very little that came out of Detroit was worth a damn, much less "good."
-

Well, I'm being a primitive here.
We all can be primitivish at times.
There's my real date of birth, and my "spiritual" date of birth, which is 1923, the same year Henry R. Luce launched Time magazine, which was unexcelled in journalistic integrity and insight until.....circa 1966.

Figures. At least I got KISS and Saturday Night Live.

My birth year: 1956
I can't post a pic (damned firewall) except as an attachment, but there can be no other car for me other than a Cadillac Coupe de Ville.
Two bullet noses, fender skirts, a ride like a boat, air-powered everything (including windows, door locks, and even the freakin' windshield washer system). Gotta love that, especially when it doesn't work!

Lots of good Eurpoean cars for 1977... the Ford Capri and BMW 2002 are two nice cars I wouldn't mind owning.

Sure. The obvious choice would be the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am (Burt Reynolds Edition) (http://www.clown-ministry.com/images/smokey-and-the-bandit-burt-reynolds-jackie-gleason.jpg) but you could lean toward something a bit more creative. -
Geez.....since I was born in the middle of WW II, when there was no consumer auto production, I suppose I'll have to settle for a "deuce and a half"........

This was our family car when I was 5-9, except it was light gray/dark gray. My dad kept a car 5 years, then it became my mom's car when the new "family car" was purchased. But my older brother wreck it in '64. My mom got a '64 Dodge.

1970 Hemi 'cuda. Gotta find a pic....

'77 was also the second-to-last year for the original Z car from Datsun...
