Obama sold us down the river on health care today
IF we get a public option it will be due to the real leadership in the House and have nothing to do with the president.

Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said Obama believes the public plan is still the "best possible choice," but she said he's not demanding it. David Axelrod, Obama's top adviser, said Senate opposition in both parties means "we have to work through these issues."
White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, who is deeply involved with congressional Democrats in trying to merge the various committee proposals, also appeared to set aside the public option.
"It's not the defining piece of health care. It's whether we achieve both cost control, coverage, as well as the choice," Emanuel said.
What choice is that? Nice way to talk out of both sides of your mouth at once, Rahm.
Imagine the power if Obama actually stood with progressives. Instead the only thing he ever "demands" is that we take a seat at the back of the bus.

2. President Obama will never put himself out there to be defeated
Everything must be put in the context of a success. If there was support for a Public Option in the Senate he'd be for a Public Option.
Too many primitives rubbing armpits

0Bama has been pushing for healthcare reform, and since he cannot vote present, he wants to be on the side that he thinks will prevail. That is the reason he has never offered his own bill on this, he didn't want to be seen as a failure. Yes, I know the president doesn't write bills, but they can still push their proposals to have them written by someone in congress.

On a dirty brown river the primitives sit. One is standing, holding a long pole. On a raft of recycled telephone polls, bound together with repurposed hemp rope.
"Old man river..." they sing.

I've read that all one conservative Senator has to do to kill this thing is to demand that the bill be read on the floor of the Senate. By Senate rules, they must do this. I'd pay attention to Mitch McConnell when he says that health care reform will never see the light of day on the Senate floor.

Last time they did this, the Dems brought in professional speed-readers to burn through the bill around the clock. Someone else has mentioned a couple other parlimentary options the GOP has, but I don't know if it is "mandatory" that they be followed through on. I assumed that was at the majority leader's (Reid's) discretion to permit them.

Reid has to know that whatever he uses to get this through will be used against the Dems when the Republicans re-take the Senate. And it will be for something far worse to the Dems.

The Dems think passing this will make them unbeatable in 2010. The media will try to ensure this too.

Obama sold us down the river on health care today...
Welcome to the "Øbama lied to me" club. We group everybody by which orifice you took the Magic Johnson in. So were you up the ass, like most of the American public; orally, like the news media; or did he rip your eyes out and skull-**** you, like the thousands under the Øbama Bus?
Oh, and what the hell kind of DU-esque callsign is "Generator", anyway? When has any DUmmy generated anything but a high pitched whine for more gub'mint goodies?

"Imagine the power..."
This desire that modern-day libs have for the world to bow down to them will be their death. Just as it has happened to them and those like them in the past, so will history repeat itself. I just hope it occurs in my lfetime, but if not, it's still coming.

If they think they've been sold down the river now, just wait until this passes and they try going to the doctor.
