I now use far more cans of broth than I used to. Some are better than others. Since I tend to use the 14 ounce cans, my choices are limited. What brands do you use? I use both chicken and beef. Low Sodium?
Our store brand seems diluted so that's out and the only options for me are Swanson's and College Inn. Other brands such as Progresso are available but come in larger, cardboard box type containers. I would never use that much at a time. I cook just for me and would prefer not to freeze it. Stir fried dinner is usually a spur of the moment thing when I have no interest in making a more complicated meal.

1. I don't use it often but I like the organic store brand at Whole Foods. It comes in a reasonably priced three pack of 8 oz. boxes which eliminates alot of waste for me. Many times I don't need a whole can and I don't always get around to using what's left over.
Oh geezuz.
franksolich buys broth, and usually doesn't need the whole can.
It's cheap, broth.
The leftover broth, franksolich gives the cats; it's true it's high in salt, but franksolich has it on the word of the veterinary that, hey, these cats here have no urinary problems and since broth isn't something given them but only very rarely (maybe once every two months), it's no big deal.

2. Don't know if you'd consider a v****e option, but Imagine Organics 'No-Chicken Broth' is REALLY good

]The box has a little plastic lid t****y on the top, so you can re-close it and don't have to use the whole amount at once.
Chicken broth was one ingredient I really missed after going v*g, but this stuff solved that problem for me. And it's organic too!

3. I miss College Inn, it is really the best out there but they don't sell it in NM. Sniff.
Since I don't like the stuff in the box or Swanson's, I use Better than Bouillon.
They do make the stuff in the box in 8 oz. boxes, although I haven't seen it here.

Because freezing left-over broth is too difficult.

I thought Whole Foods was the store whose name is not to be mentioned.

I know this is probably a really dumb question...
but if bought in the can....why wouldn't you use the whole thing? There's not that much in it.
If more is needed, then get the snap top box.

I know, how hard is it to pour the crap into an old cream cheese container and freeze it? I even freeze what I don't use of one of those little cans of tomato paste. I can get three meals at least out of a can of paste, so what i don't use the first time gets spooned into a ziplock bag and tossed in the freezer. That stuff will keep forever frozen. Even if you think it's been frozen "too long" and looks all freezer burned, it still reconstitutes perfectly.

Well, the v*g wants some kind of v****e broth...hmmmm...I guess you could boil an old plastic shoe for a few days and make your own v****e broth.

Don't tase me, broth!

Reading my post over, I am remembering a scene from a George Burns/Walter Matthau film (forget which one). In one of the first scenes, Burns is making tea. He dunks his tea bag into his cup of hot water three times, then hangs the tea bag up on a nail on the wall, and adds a hash mark to the other 13 hash marks on a little blackboard next to it. I think I'm turning into him.

Only if you wash the plastic bag that you put your leftover tomato paste in.
