Bill could put workers under pressure to lose weight, stop smoking (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33336289/ns/politics-washington_post/)
Get in shape or pay a price.
That's a message more Americans could hear if the health care reform bills passed by the Senate Finance and Health committees become law.
By more than doubling the maximum rewards and penalties that companies can apply to employees who flunk medical evaluations, the bills could put workers under intense financial pressure to lose weight, stop smoking or even lower their cholesterol.

More at the link and the DUmmies ain't gonna be happy. Think of the money they will save on keyboards though!

Senate proposals put premium on healthy living
Translation: You're not getting the free health care you thought you were. Better start shaping up now.

Further pressure to quit smoking and the government loses that tax money. People live longer if they don't smoke and will be more of a drain on the government health plans, which will cause more taxes to be raised.

Semper Fi,
Sure agree with you about being out of control.
What I find amazing is this. They sure scream discrimination against blacks, women, gays, and any other group they can find when it is time to garner votes.
At the same time they do not seem to have problems discriminating againt fat folks, smokers, or any other group when it suits their fancy to raise taxes.
I am a firm believer that we do have some control over our health by how we live our life. I am also a firm believer that the Good Lord has more control than we do. I am sure we all know folks who eat 10,000 calories a day and never gain a pound, where others really do work hard at dieting and can never lose a pound. BOTTOM LINE TO ME IS THAT IT IS UP TO US AND THE GOOD LORD TO CONTROL HOW WE LIVE OUR LIFE, NOT THE DAMN GOVERNMENT......
The irony is they are discriminating in premiums based on the risk, but they raise hell when insurance companies do the same thing.
