I know I will get ripped for this but a $250
check to SS recipients because there won't be a COLA increase in 2010. Wasn't the COLA for SS recipients intended to help them keep up with inflation? Isn't it based on the CPI? The CPI figures indicate there is no COLA due so we ignore that and cut them a check with borrowed money. We had COLA where I work back in the 70s and had to give it up as part of the concessions we have constantly given up on every single contract over the last 30 years. Where are our checks for about 100 times that much for the COLA we lost over the last 30 years? I know many SS recipients don't get a bunch of money but they have been getting a COLA raise every year for 30 years. Don't say you are on a fixed income when you have received a COLA every year for 30 years and then demand a check when you aren't due an increase. Didn't GWB cut you a special check in 2008 and PO cut you another this year in addition to the largest COLA increase since the COLA began? Oh and by the way I will be signing up for SS next year so don't say I am jealous of other people getting some money.

I just got a surprise check back from the State of Vermont, in the amount of a traffic fine I paid last year for speeding. Reason for the refund: Complaint dismissed. Complaint not filed on time. :cheersmate:

Ever notice that when you have/grow the real thing that stuff which claims to have it or be "flavored" as such usually tastes like a bag of ass? I don't buy blueberry or raspberry ANYTHING unless they're real ones in the ingredients.

Once my son found out about Toaster Struedels...I don't think I ever bought PopTarts again. He loved those things!!!

You're lucky. We didn't have no modern-fangled toasters when I was a kid. We had to cook our PopTarts by holding it next to a glowing piece of charred wood.

:rofl: The only time I got Pop Tarts as a child was during summer vacation when my parents splurged on snacks for the twelve-hour drive to Florida. During the rest of the year, if mom couldn't make it at home, you didn't get it.

What it DOES do is clearly demonstrate that every word the Democrats say about 'Controlling costs of Medicare/Obamacare/whatever' is an absolute and comlete lie, and any such bedgetary restraint is a 'Core Principle' they will stand behind to the death or until one nanosecond longer than the moment it crashes into the interests of one of their core constituencies, whichever comes first...and we all know which one is going to come first.

Savings, he writes, will require changing how doctors think about their patients: Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, "as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others" (Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008).
Emanuel, however, believes that "communitarianism" should guide decisions on who gets care. He says medical care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those "who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens . . . I saw a car today with both an Obama/Biden sticker and an autism awareness sticker. I wonder if that doofus driving that car realizes that the above warming the chair in regards to healthcare decisions likely includes their beloved autistics in the above. I can't read that any other way given the fact that I have son with autism myself who will likely not be a 'participating citizen' to the extensive nature of his disability. Nice going there doofus in the Caddy who voted this anti-life garbage into office.
We all see what's going on here right? Those who truly do need our care ie those with REAL disabilities like autism or who are elderly and no longer able to care for themselves will be left to rot and die while those perfectly capable of taking care of themselves will be covered for the best of the 'village'. This is such utter bullshit. The only people who should be cared for on a community level due to the extent of their infirmity or disability are exactly those who the Obamanation would seek to exclude. NICE!

If social security was linked completely to the cost of living, the new payments would actually go down, but the government is not allowed to reduce payments.
President Obama knows that many seniors are not very happy with him, and I think he is giving the $250 as a bribe. But he doesn't realize that in this world $250 doesn't go too far.

I think he knows very well that $250 doesn't go far, especially with MediCare premiums being increased. Its a one time bribe that is supposed to buy enough time to get the Rationing Billl passed do we can let oldsters die instead of trying to keep them alive a few more months or years. I am certain the oldsters, most of them, aren't that dumb.
