I would have been OK up to the first hole, then I would have to have given up.

How cool is that?!  First I felt like I was playing Doom ... then I felt like I was back working iron again!

No safety harness, though there was a cable running along the mountain.

Still, that one is beyond me. Nuh uh.

Thanks for that link, Rick. I'd wondered where it was but ran out of time to search for it.

Not to mention the very serious cracks in the concrete by the holes that just scream, "We are going to give way at anytime." YIKES!

It ain't bad, though, for 100-year-old concrete.  :evillaugh:

Meh! You're tethered to the side of the mountain! You aren't going anywhere! :-) I would love to do that! Just beautiful! :cheersmate:

My favorite was the stretch towards the end where the hand rail was totally horizontal...LMAO

Kinda makes me wonder how many poor bastards fell through those holes as they were being "created".  :o

My understanding is a few years ago 4 people died when that happened. Eventhough they closed the walkway, many people still used it (and still do) for access to climbing areas.
It's since reopened, and it may be restored.

Would be nice to see some restoration there. I think I'd walk it if they secured it once again...nothing failsafe, but new concrete would be nice..lol

considering when that was built, I honestly would not be shocked if a worker or two fell during it's construction.  It's actual construction must have been amazing to witness!

In a really weird sort of way--not the mountains, not the trees, not the water--it reminded me of the interior of nuclear power plants in the socialist paradises of the workers and peasants with free medical care for all.

Really.
