Title: Mexico
Post by: NHSparky on October 13, 2009, 08:34:31 AM
Getting caught up on bills and the like, and the thought of another winter without any sort of break is starting to depress me.  So I thought that in the Jan/Feb timeframe (after X-Mas, but before Spring Break), a few days in Mexico would be a nice break.

I've done La Paz/Cabo, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta, but not the east coast.  So who here has been to the Cozumel/Cancun area?  Is it worth it?  Any ideas?

I have a friend that goes down at least once a year, and she stays near Cozumel.  I can ask her what she thinks, she has been going down there for YEARS.

I serve on a Board of Directors that has annual meetings in Cancun in January.  It is always a fun time.  The weather is wonderful.

Before having all the kids, Mrs. Tantal and I used to do Playa Del Carmen every year. I strongly recommend the Iberostar. We've tried other places when the Iberostar was booked and we were going on short notice. It always sucked in comparison. We won't go anywhere else now.

While Cozumel and Cancun can be nice, for that time of the year, I'd recommend the Dominican Republic.

My personal favorite is Belize.

What's Chucky Rangel's little cottage renting for down there these days?

Yeah, I'm not looking for party time, really--just toes up, beer down, no plans to do much of anything.  I saw one place called the Hacienda Vista Real.  It's cheap, highly rated, and looks like it has enough to make it worth my while.
