LINCOLN — Anti-abortion groups are turning up the heat on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents to forbid NU researchers from expanding embryonic stem cell research.

In its October newsletter, Nebraska Right to Life announced an “action alert,” asking abortion opponents to demonstrate outside Varner Hall, NU's central administration building, during the Oct. 23 regents meeting.

The group also is urging members to testify at the meeting and to press sympathetic regents to support a resolution barring the expansion of embryonic stem cell research.

Regent Tim Clare of Lincoln, a lawyer, said that before the board can act, it needs a better understanding of the current policy and how it's affected by federal regulations and state law. He said Joel Pederson, NU legal counsel, has been researching those questions.

“The issue may be addressed this month, it may be addressed next month or the month after,” Clare said.

Since 2001, NU has followed federal policy developed by then-President George W. Bush, who limited the research to already existing lines of stem cells.

Nebraska is not a pro-murder state.

3. Do these troglodyte assholes have a clue
that stem cell research has NOTHING to do with abortion? The cells were created outside anybody's body, a result of jacking off plus a surgical retrieval of eggs straight from an ovary. Most will die instead of implanting and turning into a pregnancy. The ones that are to be discarded will end up going down the drain if they're not used for research to save lives.

What the hell are backwards priests and preachers telling these people? Don't they realize that telling lies makes baby Jesus cry?

Lying on such a grand scale should be punishable by law, especially through civil suit for ministerial malpractice.

Well, us a$$holes do understand that every joining of human sperm and human egg produces human life...something that DUmpsters frequently can't get.  I guess it comes from being high during 7th grade science class.  I do agree with the last statement, but don't think the warped one understands which statements are lies.   ::) ::)  The warped one will probably be horribly shocked when all those lies come back to haunt her.

Oh, the unfrocked warped primitive is just a sourass, Mrs. Smith.

One wonders if the defrocked warped primitive is going to manage to stay in this time and place long enough to realize that caring and loving makes life easier, while Hate and bitterness makes life hard.

I sort of doubut it; the warped primitive is no Gloria Swanson.
