Oh my.

The plagiarizing greedy thorn primitive must have gotten a $5-off coupon from the grocery chain for posting this blatant endorsement.

meet my new grocery store!!! ALDI foods

http://www.aldifoods.com/us/html/company/shopping_smart...

Welcome to a place where private label products exceed the quality of big name brands.
But cost up to 50% less.

Welcome to a place where streamlined operations all but eliminate competition.
A place where there is always a surprise in store.

Welcome to a community of smarter shoppers whose expectations for high quality
are matched only by their refusal to pay more for it.

I dunno; all grocery stores tend to look alike to me.

I've seen the name "Aldi's" before, probably in a news story or something.

Out here in the Sandhills of Nebraska, we have IGA stores, Jack & Jills, SunMarts, Bag 'n Saves, SuperSavers, Baker's, Hinky-Dinkys, and a very very long time ago, had Safeways.  And of course Wal-Marts and Sam's Clubs and the ubiquitous mom-and-pop operations.

Names of grocery stores in the east aren't known here (although the plagiarizing greedy thorn primitive is from Kansas, not the east; perhaps Kansas has more chains).

We also have Hy-Vees, which like the Omaha World-Herald, is owned by the employees--quite different from the primitive-admired corporate-owned Aldi's or the primitive-admired corporate-owned New York Times.

The plagiarizing greedy thorn primitive built a pretty big bonfire with this topic; the primitives banter back-and-forth, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

It's well worth viewing on Skins's island.

We've got those here, Coach.  I've been in one near me, and I was kinda put off by the place.

First Aldis I saw were 20 years or so ago in Germany, basically kind of small corner supermarkets in a world of mom-and-pop stores ('Lebensmitteln').  They have mutated somewhat in the US market, though most of them I've seen are still kind of on the smallish side as chain grocery stores go.  Haven't been in one in a long time, the memory of European prices kind of puts me off subconsciously, I suppose.

Well, actually, muddyemms and Tanker, the primitives seem not as enthusiastic about the chain as the original poster does.

Some of the posts on that thread were actually funny. Back in Ohio, we had Finast and Stop n Shop, until Giant Eagle bought them out.  :banghead: and some smaller neighborhood stores.  Down here we have mostly Publix.
