My 11-year old son's friend told him Obama was a War Monger
And his friend got that information from his mother who read it on... wait for it... Democratic Underground. I don't know the woman well, but I don't believe she is that political. DU is indeed read by many people of all types and it gets a fair deal of web traffic.
I had to explain to my son that Obama did not start these wars, that they are a terrible situation that must be dealt with and that Obama is working on it.
Yes, DU threads here have people believing Obama is a War Monger now and it's cycling back to our kids. Good Job guys.

You are right Lord O is working on ending those wars and neutering the USA all at once.
The past couple of months have been the deadliest months yet in Afghanistan and what has Obama been doing?
That's right going on Letterman, Groveling overseas to try to get the Olympics and accepting the Nobel Prize.
If Bush took five minutes to use the bathroom you morons cried he was being negligent. Meanwhile Lord O is acting like a freaking rock star and not supporting the mission that he escalated in Afghanistan. This is Obama's war now like it or not DUmmies. He may not have started it but he hasn't ended it.

My teenage son talks politics with his classmates. His teacher called and told me he was explaining to a group of kids in his class what super Tuesday was and how the election process works. He has been very intrested in it all for about 2 years now.

Well, to be fair, I know an 8 year old who's obsessed with politics. Conspiracy theories, to be specific. I'm not sure whether that's considered politics or just paranoia, though.

aT AGE 11 I read "Roy Rogers" novels. But at the 12 I graduated to E. A. Poe (scared myself silly) H. Allen Smith (laughed mysefl silly) and Samuel Taylor Coleridge with a smattering of Mark Twain.
No interest in politics until 12, and then only passing curious about TRUTHFULLNESS in politics, by 14 I realized truthfuness was simply not possible among MOST politicians, and the 50 yearse since have just confirm these conclusions.
I was FAR more "political" than my contemporaries in school.
