The video at the site gives the reasons. Essentially its "just because" he is Obama. and his extraordinary efforts to inject dialog/negotiations into international affairs. of course the fact that he's accomplished NOTHING doesn't seem to sway the committee. Maybe this is for dropping the missile shield in Poland? Or Michelle's shopping trips in Paris? Or Maybe his BOW to the Saudi King? Your guess is as good as mine.
One of the reporters asked the Nobel pansy about Lord O's impending decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan. The Pansy replies, "We hope this will encourage O to negotiate in Afghanistan."
:thatsright: Now you can win a Nobel prize for accomplishing...nothing.
and the gang at DU are positive this will cause our heads to explode in rage. Unfortunately I'm become immune to the Obama worship, and i learned long ago the Peace prize was worthless when Arafat the terrorist murderer received one.
-
someone cue the SNL bit on Obama....

It doesn`t do anything to me as I don`t let politics guide my happiness in life.
Basically a bunch of Euro socialist sycophants gave a back slap to a like minded incompetent,no surprise or meaning there.

It wouldn't make my head explode, but it would make me shake my head in wonder at the continued worship at the feet of a man-boy that has accomplished nothing.

I pretty much stopped giving a shit about the Nobel prizes when they gave a Peace Prize to Arafat.

OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," the Norwegian Nobel Committee said, citing his outreach to the Muslim world and attempts to curb nuclear proliferation.
The stunning choice made Obama the third sitting U.S. president to win the Nobel Peace Prize and shocked Nobel observers because Obama took office less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline. Obama's name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president.
Speculation had focused on Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, a Colombian senator and a Chinese dissident, along with an Afghan woman's rights activist.
The Nobel committee praised Obama's creation of "a new climate in international politics" and said he had returned multilateral diplomacy and institutions like the U.N. to the center of the world stage. The plaudit appeared to be a slap at President George W. Bush from a committee that harshly criticized Obama's predecessor for resorting to largely unilateral military action in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Rather than recognizing concrete achievement, the 2009 prize appeared intended to support initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.
Do they take it back when Iran announces it has a nuke?
"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee said. "In the past year Obama has been a key person for important initiatives in the U.N. for nuclear disarmament and to set a completely new agenda for the Muslim world and East-West relations."
He added that the committee endorsed "Obama's appeal that 'Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.'"
President Theodore Roosevelt won the award in 1906 and President Woodrow Wilson won in 1919.
The committee chairman said after awarding the 2002 prize to former Democratic President Jimmy Carter, for his mediation in international conflicts, that it should be seen as a "kick in the leg" to the Bush administration's hard line in the buildup to the Iraq war.
Five years later, the committee honored Bush's adversary in the 2000 presidential election, Al Gore, for his campaign to raise awareness about global warming.
The Nobel committee received a record 205 nominations for this year's prize though it was not immediately apparent who nominated Obama.
"The exciting and important thing about this prize is that it's given too someone ... who has the power to contribute to peace," Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said.
Nominators include former laureates; current and former members of the committee and their staff; members of national governments and legislatures; university professors of law, theology, social sciences, history and philosophy; leaders of peace research and foreign affairs institutes; and members of international courts of law.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation welcomed the award on behalf of its founder Nelson Mandela, who shared the 1993 Peace Prize with then-South African President F.W. DeKlerk for their efforts at ending years of apartheid and laying the groundwork for a democratic country.
"We trust that this award will strengthen his commitment, as the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, to continue promoting peace and the eradication of poverty," the foundation said.
In his 1895 will, Alfred Nobel stipulated that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses."
Unlike the other Nobel Prizes, which are awarded by Swedish institutions, he said the peace prize should be given out by a five-member committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament. Sweden and Norway were united under the same crown at the time of Nobel's death.
The committee has taken a wide interpretation of Nobel's guidelines, expanding the prize beyond peace mediation to include efforts to combat poverty, disease and climate change.
In essence it is the socialist or anti American of the year award and should be ridiculed as such.
..When asked if he was deserving of the award President Obama stared intently into the teleprompter and after a few seconds answered in a grave voice... "Present".

If this doesn't prove to the world what a sham the NPP is nothing will. The DUmmies will be wetting themselves in joy this morning.

And in other news, still no pony.
-
This makes about as much sense as putting Bella Pelosi and Cinder Sheebang in a beauty contest.
-
One need only to look at the nomination process...and those who control this award..
2. Members of international courts;
3. University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes;
"members of international courts..."
and who has been promoting 'international' couirts?
"3. University rectors; professors of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology; directors of peace research institutes and foreign policy institutes;"
no explanation needed...
The Nobel Peace Prize committee is famous for making grand symbolic gestures aimed at influencing the world agenda, as in 1989 when, in the wake of the Tiananmen massacre, the prize went to the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader.
U.S. President Barack Obama is thought to have been nominated but it’s unclear on what grounds.
Nobel watchers say he could be a contender for next year’s prize, following his lofty call for global nuclear disarmament at the United Nations last month, which came after the nomination deadline for the 2009 prize. His 'Muslim' speech came after too-in June.
“In many ways we have a strong candidate for next year, Obama and other world leaders†who backed the U.N. resolution, said Jan Egeland, director of Oslo’s Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. “But too late for this year.â€

Fox and Friends is going absolutely nuts over Obama getting this "prize"!
They came on five minutes early to announce it and have hardly stopped talking about it since.

Since he hadn't yet given the speeches for which he was nominated(or done anything else), my guess is it's for his agenda to socialize the US.

Who Doesn't Have a Nobel Prize Nomination? (http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/opinion/la-op-tookienobel4dec04,1,1344488.story)

MANY advocates of clemency for Stanley Tookie Williams note that he has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and the Nobel Prize in literature for his anti-gang work, which includes writing children's books. How could a convicted murderer and co-founder of the Crips be nominated for such prizes?
According to Nobel Prize nominating rules, any "professor of social sciences, history, philosophy, law and theology" and any judge or national legislator in any country, among others, can nominate anyone for a Nobel Peace Prize. Past nominees include Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Benito Mussolini and Fidel Castro.
Birds of a feather as mother always use to say.....

"So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far. He is still at an early stage. He is only beginning to act," said former Polish President Lech Walesa, a 1983 Nobel Peace laureate.

Obama's Nobel Peace Prize: The Last Thing He Needs
The last thing Barack Obama needed at this moment in his presidency and our politics is a prize for a promise.
By now there are surely more callouses on his lips than his hands. :lmao:
But even his fans know that none of the dreams have yet come true, and a prize for even dreaming them can feed the illusion that they have.
There comes a time when a President needs to take a real risk — and putting his prestige on the line to win the Olympics for his home town does not remotely count.

I did not realize the Nobel Peace Prize had an affirmative action quota for it, but that is the only thing I can think of for this news. There is no way Barack Obama earned it in the nominations period.
Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize.
The deadline for nominations was two weeks after he was sworn in as President.
So in less than two weeks of entering office, Obama did something to qualify. What was it? Not closing Gitmo? Continuing the Bush administration’s policies in the War on Terror but no longer using the name? Or pronouncing a policy of abject American capitulation to our enemies?
The Peace Prize reaffirms it s a joke. But now a sad joke.
Somewhere Bill Clinton’s head just exploded.
Redstate (http://www.redstate.com/)
I want to know what morons nominated him . I'm betting someone did it as soon as the elections were over. They didn't need to see any deeds performed, merely hear his his rhetoric.

Well. Well, well, well.
How bizarre.

He did not "win" anything.
They nominated him on his 12th day in office, apparently. Tell me what he had done by his 12th day in office to deserve a "Peace" prize??
He has a long way to go before he reaches the milestone set by Yassir Arafat.

Barack Obama did not WIN a Nobel.... WIN implies some kind of effort.
He has a ways to go to amass the body count of Yasser Arafat in order to really deserve a PEACE PRIZE

Obama the Warmonger
"The Swedish Peace and Arbitration Society (Svenska Freds) has classified as "shameful" the decision by the Nobel Committee in Oslo to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 to Barack Obama.
"The choice of Barack Obama as the recipient of the world's foremost peace prize is shocking," said the group's chairwoman Anna Ek in a statement.
Ek conceded that the US president had sent "positive signals" with regard to his future commitment to global peace.
"But at the same time Obama is the president of the biggest military power in the world and is waging two wars in the world. That should certainly disqualify him from a peace prize," said Ek.
The leader of the Swedish opposition, Social Democrat Mona Sahlin, said the prize award would serve to increase expectations that Obama can deliver concrete results.
"It's a pleasing political turnaround from the years with George W Bush, who disregarded the UN's rules and regulations," she said in a statement.
Moderate Party parliamentary group leader Lars Lindblad said that, though he was glad Obama had been elected president of the United States, awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize was a "historic mistake".
"In my view the Peace Prize should go to somebody who has achieved something," he told Dagens Nyheter. " The Local Sweden (http://www.thelocal.se/22560/20091009/)

Something along the lines of, "Thanks, but I can't accept it and don't deserve it?"

Let’s take a look at the president’s first 12 days in the White House according to his public schedule to see what he did to deserve a Nobel Peace Prize:
January 20: Sworn in as president. Went to a parade. Partied.
January 21: Asked bureaucrats to re-write guidelines for information requests. Held an “open house†party at the White House.
January 22: Signed Executive Orders: Executive Branch workers to take ethics pledge; re-affirmed Army Field Manual techniques for interrogations; expressed desire to close Gitmo (how’s that working out?)
January 23: Ordered the release of federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries. Lunch with Joe Biden; met with Tim Geithner.
January 24: Budget meeting with economic team.
January 25: Skipped church.
January 26: Gave speech about jobs and energy. Met with Hillary Clinton. Attended Geithner's swearing in ceremony.
January 27: Met with Republicans. Spoke at a clock tower in Ohio.
January 28: Economic meetings in the morning, met with Defense secretary in the afternoon.
January 29: Signed Ledbetter Bill overturning Supreme Court decision on lawsuits over wages. Party in the State Room. Met with Biden.
January 30: Met economic advisers. Gave speech on Middle Class Working Families Task Force. Met with senior enlisted military officials.
January 31: Took the day off.
February 1: Skipped church. Threw a Super Bowl party.
So there you have it. The short path to the Nobel Peace Prize: Party, go to meetings, skip church, release federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries, party some more.
Good grief.

Nobel Peace Prize was originally for scientific achievements, not politics. The last two Presidents were Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. Roosevelt who took on a more activist streak as President. Wilson formed the League of Nations, the forerunner of the UN, and he did not support suffrage, but only did so because of his wife. Also, he was a racist.

Comment: absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize
Michael Binyon
Times Online
October 9, 2009
The award of this year’s Nobel peace prize to President Obama will be met with widespread incredulity, consternation in many capitals and probably deep embarrassment by the President himself.
Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of America’s first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.
Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronising in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace.
The pretext for the prize was Mr Obama’s decision to “strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoplesâ€. Many people will point out that, while the President has indeed promised to “reset†relations with Russia and offer a fresh start to relations with the Muslim world, there is little so far to show for his fine words.

The award of the Nobel Peace Prize to Barack Obama, so early in his presidency, is bound to reignite criticism of the workings of the Nobel committee.
The deadline for nominations for the prize was Feb. 1 — two weeks after Mr. Obama was inaugurated.
“So soon? Too early. He has no contribution so far,†former Polish President Lech Walesa, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983, said Friday. “He is still at an early stage.â€

Don't they realize that the picture is so obviously satire, that it has the opposite effect ? That only 'the messiah' would be able to pull off two totally contradictory things without anyone noticing ?
Stupid, stupid primitives.
And they claim we don't understand 'nuance'.

Ooooobama cannot be the messiah. Jesus knew how to assemble a cabinet.

Barack Obama's peace prize starts a fight
October 10, 2009
Gasps echoed through the Nobel Hall in Oslo yesterday as Barack Obama was unveiled as the winner of the 2009 Peace Prize, sparking a global outpouring of incredulity and praise in unequal measure.
Mr Obama was sound asleep in the White House when the Norwegian Nobel Committee made the shock announcement. It said that he was being honoured for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoplesâ€.
In a clear swipe at his predecessor, George W. Bush, the committee praised the “change in the international climate†that the President had brought, along with his cherished goal of ridding the world of nuclear weapons.
“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future,†it added.
International reaction ranged from delight to disbelief. The former winners Kofi Annan and Desmond Tutu voiced praise, the latter lauding the Nobel Committee’s “surprising but imaginative choiceâ€.
Lech Walesa is quoted in the very next paragraph.

That's a "man of the cloth's" polite way of saying it's complete and utter bullshit that this mulatto bastard is considered the equal of the likes of His Reverence.

Neither had I and I read all of the books glad to know I was not the only one feeling it as well

What is the lesson of Obama? Other than the obvious fact that our teaching of history is an abysmal failure at all levels?
That even a coke head can be President with the right help from the entrenched radical left and a press that hides the facts of his life.
-
Also a small document called a Birth Certificate but who cares right?

Matthew 24:24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Mark 13:22-23: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
Is he the Antichrist? Hell no. He's a puppet. However, the Antichrist has prophets as well.

He will go there on Dec 10 to pick it up.... how many airplanes and how much tax dollars will this cost?
December 10 was also the day Doom was released. Coincidence?

Majority of Nobel jury 'objected to Obama prize'
Oct 15 07:23 AM US/Eastern
Breitbart
Three of the five members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee had objections to the Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to US President Barack Obama, the Norwegian tabloid Verdens Gang (VG) reported Thursday.
"VG has spoken to a number of sources who confirmed the impression that a majority of the Nobel committee, at first, had not decided to give the peace prize to Barack Obama," the newspaper said.
In a surprise move last Friday, the Nobel committee attributed the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama less than nine months after he had taken office.

Looks like the Nobel committee objected to Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize. They must be racist now. :fuelfire:

If the majority was against it, how did he win?
-
****ing "NPP committee" asshats.
Having the courage of your convictions - irrespective of the absolutely ludicrous decision that came out of this alleged august body - is the only way to go if you have an ounce of credibility.
Why don't you turds launch yourself into a fjord somewhere and sink to the bottom with the fish shit?
