This crime occurred in 1965, but reading this is horrifying. Truly appalling and outrageous. The sick part is, the mother, Gertrude Baniszewski was the one who instigated the whole thing. Thankfully, she is dead and rotting away in Hell. Some of the other torturers involved are dead too, including Richard Hobbs, who did most of the dirty work.

No need too. I managed too, but I had to take a long shower. Too brutal and gruesome. This reminds me of the Megan Meier Suicide Case when Lori Drew harassed her over her daughter being called a "Lesbian". Gertrude Baniszewski has to be one of the most vile person right next to Mohammed Atta and the 18 hijackers of 9/11. :censored: :bird: I am not equating the torture of Sylvia Likens with the murder of 3,000 people on live TV.

I read most of it...some of it, I read over as it was a bit too much. This story reminds me of Sybil. Also based on a true story on a girl who was abused by her mother, and later inherited her MPD. Sally Fields did the original, and there was a remake a few years ago.
This story is even more repulsive. There is true evil in the world.

Tell me about it. There is a recent movie about Sylvia Likens called "An American Crime", which has Catherine Keener. I have not seen it yet though. The Sybil movie was very popular and released on tape in the 1980s. At least Sybil lived, while Sylvia died. Evil is everywhere and it does not have to be a dictator, terrorist, or serial killer.

The Florida turnpike just put up a billboard about childabuse...apparently, we're getting more cases in florida..I'm paraphrasing, but something like "If you're hard on them, We'll be hard on you" with a small child in the corner. I have seen more cases at my hospital...babies coming in for non-accidental traumas. We had one today, and infant with a head fracture. It's painful to see.

Seeing an injured child is horrifying. What do you do at the hospital? I am sure the recession in Florida is exacerbating the child abuse problem. Harming children is truly unforgivable.

Whenever a child is brought into the Peds ER, and non-accidental trauma is suspected, child services is called, and the Sheriff Office sends over an officer. The child gets a Bone Survey, which is a series of xrays that look for fractures. There are certain fractures that point to abuse. Posterior rib fractures and head injuries usually from shaken babies, healing or old fractures in the extremities are also indicative of child abuse. If the results are positive, the child is separated from the caregiver and then Child Services is involved. Severe cases obviously bypass these steps.
I am a manager in the Radiology Department...so I come across these cases often. After 20 years in the field, it's still difficult to see or even imagine these things happen to innocent children and babies.
A few weeks ago, we had a 9 month old baby who was raped by her mother's boyfriend. She will require a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. The scene was horrifying...I won't get into details.

Raping a baby is sick. We had a mother who mutiliated her own son's genitals and blamed it on the dog. She was sentence to 99 years in prison. The baby is scarred for life.

Back in about 1967, the girl next door - about my age - brought a magazine to my bedroom window. She wanted to know if I had heard the story about Gertrude Baniszewski. Then she read the entire article to me.
It disturbed and intrigued me. I never forgot about it or the names involved. The story has been with me for over forty years.
I had lunch with this neighbor girl a few years ago, maybe 2003? It was the first time we had seen each since the days we were those kids in the window. I reminded her of the time she read to me the story of Gertrude Baniszewski. This girl (woman) didn't remember it AT ALL. She had no clue what I was talking about. It meant nothing to her. The facts of the story, the names involved.....nothing.
She had also turned out to be a flaming moonbat, but that's another story.

It is so repulsive to think that there are monsters like this among us. I recently came across the Baby Brianna story which is just about the most sickening I have read. To me, they and their accessories have forsaken their right to live among the civilized and should be executed without delay. Twofold benefit, get rid of the problem and cleanse the gene pool.

That would be REAL justice. The death penalty should be swift....especially when there is overwhelming evidence. Today's psychopaths spend years on death row...how is that justice? I'd rather these animals be put in general population and have the inmates take care of them....by way of the Jeffrey Dahmer killing.

They should do hard labor for life in Siberia.
