Caterpillar layoffs will affect 106
STAFF REPORTS • October 7, 2009
Caterpillar officials on Tuesday announced another round of layoffs that will start next month at the Lafayette plant.
Jim Dugan, chief corporate spokesman, said about 106 production employees will be affected by the layoffs.
He said the layoffs will start in November at the Large Engine Center on Indiana 26 East.
The Lafayette plant "continues to monitor its operations and demand in order to balance production needs and employment levels," Dugan said.
"We regret the need to reduce our work force. However, Caterpillar is taking difficult actions today in order to position the company for long-term success in the global marketplace." ........(more)

1. I hate this ****ing global marketplace so much.
DUmpmonkeys have no idea how many employees at huge companies like Caterpillar would be
out of work if their business were limited to the domestic market.
Even in the miserable O-conomy, millions of Americans owe their prosperity to global business.

But 0Bama told us that the president of Caterpillar said they would start calling people back to work if the stimulus was passed. Of course, the Caterpillar guy denied that within a couple of days.

Those being laid off are production employees. I'm assuming they're Union. Didn't the Unions back Chairman MaObama?
