Have yourself a merry little Christmas
God, what terribly ironic words. In a little more than two months, far too many people are going to have one of the worst Christmas’s of their lives.
Think about your fellow DUers who can’t afford their next mortgage or rent payments.
Think about those who couldn’t pay the last one.
Think about your fellow DUers who are still trying to find a job.
Think about your fellow DUers who have been out of work for far too long.
Think about your fellow DUers who can’t make the next health care insurance payment.
Think about your fellow DUers who couldn’t pay the last one.
Do I really need to go on?
America is broken.
It started the day Ronald Reagan took office and has been getting worse ever since.
Let’s be honest about it. We’ve been getting screwed for the past 30 years. And over the past eight years, George W. Bush & Co. raised rape, pillage and plunder to an art form.
So, President Obama, why don’t you skip this year’s White House Christmas tree? Why don’t you skip the “Have yourself a merry little Christmas†sermon? Instead, how about doing anything and everything to help people who need help. Here’s what I’m asking you to do. **** Wall Street. Help Main Street.
And of most importance, how about the rest of us finding a way to help our fellow DUers? I’m a terrible organizer, but hopefully, one or more of you can suggest how we can do this.Cyrano

Oh, Oscar Wilde, the large-proboscised primitive, is the examplar of that.
Born and raised in the New York City area, Oscar Wilde had a chance to become a Wall Street wizard, to become enormously wealthy, but then threw it all overboard in a hissy fit.
I'm not sure what Oscar Wilde does down in Florida now--I suspect he's a nurse's aide or something in an old folks' home, but don't quote me on that--but man, Oscar's not wild about Florida either. He despises the state, despise the good people there.

Our church is now taking special offerings for people that have been laid off, to help with house and COBRA payments. It's our month to fill the food pantry. Oh, and it's coming up on the time to do shoeboxes for overseas kids, and the Angel tree for local kids.

An old friend of mine, of whom I have no clue as to whether he is dead or alive, had the same "problem". No matter which state he moved to, that damned state caused all his problems.

Now, I've never been down to Florida myself--I can't take the sweltering heat below Louisville Kentucky (although I do plan sooner or later to make a sacrifice and go see JohnnyReb in South Carolina for two or three days)--but it's always seemed to me people from Florida tend to be some of the most decent and civilized people one can hope to meet.
I dunno what Oscar Wilde's problem is.
