CraigsList Scam Warning

For those of you selling on CraigsList, be careful of the following scam:

I put up a few listings a couple of days ago, and have by now received two different replies in the same vein - someone will e-mail and say "You don't have to sell your stuff to survive, I was in the same boat until I found out about this surefire money-maker," or something along those lines, and then procede to tell you about a technique for making thousands of dollars a month in partnership with Google. If you follow the links, you'll find the super-simple "starter kit" costs 99 cents, and you might think, Gee, for 99 cents, I can give it a try.... What they don't tell you, buried in the fine print, is that when you give your credit card number for those initial 99 cents, you're agreeing to the "terms" which include automatic deductions from your card for future membership costs, to the tune of a periodic $70 or so.

A quick search on Google (ironically) turned up all of this info - but if you first get the e-mail, which sounds like it comes from a regular person, you might be tempted to give it a shot. Don't be.

1. I got a couple of those.

I deleted them. I've been unemployed since February, & one thing I have learned is: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Delete them if you get them!

Oh my.

Yeah i got a couple of these also from my listings. I just delete them outright! Don't even bother to "look into" them.

Something tells me DUmmies, ie the 'something for nothing' crew, falls for scams like this a lot. People most likely to get the wool pulled over their eyes with this stuff usually don't want to put the work, effort, or $$ into something to accomplish something whether it is weight loss, work, etc.

Only a DUmbass would even take the time to research this scam before deleting the email.

What a maroon, what a nincompoop!

Well, they have to do something while they are waiting for the pizza delivery....

Which brings me to the question--do normal people even post on Craigslist, or just point and laugh?

There's junk mail on the internet?  Who knew??  Next thing you know, people will be putting naked pictures of themselves on it!

I have an idea. We could throw a 300-page book of DUmpster threads together, a Best Of and advertise it at Craigs List as a PDF file. Someone could even try and sell it for the Kindle over at Amazon (amazon gets a cut).

We could raise a fortune.

"Democrat Underground: Exposed to the Excrement" or something.

I've never 'posted' on Craigslist, but I have waited for DUmmies, eager for a Cheeto fix, to sell their shit dirt cheap.

I've sold a bicycle on CL.  Anyone that would like a size 54 leather motorcycle jacket in like-new condition, PM me because I haven't sold it yet.

I like looking at beater cars on CL just to see what's for sale.  HERE (http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/1368730988.html) is an example of how to NOT sell a car.

Yeah, I've always thought Cragslist was just for ads by prostitutes, or for people searching for others
who share their perversion. Maybe that was just its original purpose.

We're building a strawbale house, and I've found all kinds of stuff on CL.  All the doors and windows, fantastic antique Spanish roof tiles. And we furnished the kid's house when she moved back from Utah. Even got one of my parrots off there.

I don't read the personal ads, but the "Best of CL" is hilarious.

And the straw bale house looks like an awesomely fun idea.

Friendly Human-Cat for adoption.
I will crawl around your house and do cat-like things in exchange for only cat food, water, a litter box, and occasional treats. Cat-cats are more of a hassle than human-cats. If you are looking to adopt a cat-cat and have been researching the matter you already know what I mean. There is less research to be done on human-cats, so let a friendly little fellow into your house today and be one of the first to spearhead a fledgeling community.

I will not speak or do anything human-like, only cat-like. I look out windows, become enthralled with small objects, run across the house in the middle of the night and make a terrifying sound in the corner, nuzzle you with my head, etc. You must take care of me as you would a cat-cat.

Email me for details.

It really is fun. It's a family project and we're doing ALL the work ourselves.  The coolest thing is how proud the kids are of what they've accomplished, even the little tikes(grandkids).

It's not bad for childcare ads actually. I found my sons sitter on there and she's a good friend now. Very nice, Christian woman with 4 children of her own, married for years, stable, etc. It's actually not a bad resource, just the idiots, as always, give it a bad name.

The funniest ad
I have ever seen on CL was for "A good ass kicking" This guy wanted you to fly him to your destination just so he could kick your ass! You decided when the ass kicking took place and where!
Oh you also had to provide him with hotels and meals! :lmao:

I love Craigslist. I got a Bowflex that this lady bought but never used for $100 and a second ACD (Australian Cattle Dog) free. Never herded a day in his life but he turned out to be a great heeler. In my area it's also a great place to get day (or so) old feeder calves VERY cheap. They aren't Black Angus but just fine for my husband and I.

I have an ACD.  He heels me.  And anyone at his house is now his herd.  He tries to herd cats and squirrels.  That is very interesting.  Good dogs.
