Senate Finance panel rejects govt insurance option
LINK
Liberal Democrats failed Tuesday to inject a government-run insurance option into sweeping health care legislation taking shape in the Senate Finance Committee, despite widespread accusations that private insurers routinely deny coverage in pursuit of higher profits.
The 15-8 rejection marked a victory for Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., the committee chairman, who is hoping to push his middle-of-the-road measure through the panel by week's end. It also kept alive the possibility that at least one Republican may yet swing behind the bill, a key goal of both Baucus and the White House.
"My job is to put together a bill that gets to 60 votes" in the full Senate, the Montana Democrat said shortly before he joined a majority on the committee in opposing the provision. "No one shows me how to get to 60 votes with a public option," the term used to describe a new government role in health care. It takes 60 votes to overcome delaying actions that Republicans may attempt on the Senate floor.
The maneuvering occurred as the committee plunged into a second week of public debate on legislation that generally adheres to conditions that President Barack Obama has called for. The bill includes numerous new consumer protections, including a ban on companies denying insurance on the basis of pre-existing conditions. At the same time it provides government subsidies to help lower-income Americans afford insurance that is currently beyond their means. It also includes steps that supporters say will begin to slow the rate of growth in health care costs nationwide.
Misery!

And there you have it, brother and sister Democrats, the very crux of the biscuit, as Frank Zappa used to say.
Bu*h Dog DINOrats, together with a united front of their republican brethren, voting to quash humane, progressive legislation under orders from their corporate owners. We need to get these traitorous ****ers out of office ASAP.
What should now be perfectly clear to any reasonable American is that we must outlaw corporate personhood, and outlaw all corporate interference in government as well. The penalty for breaking these laws should be mandatory life in prison without parole for any person representing a corporation that approaches a legislator with the intent to influence that legislator.
Next time these piece of shit traitorous DINOrats run for office I'm sending every spare penny to their opponents in the primaries.

Not all DUmmies are irrational, though, of course, most are. In a companion thread, another
DUmmy, taking a much more reasoned approach, gives his opinion on why the communist
medical plot failed in committee:

Well, Montana Max is doing his job.
And Montana Max knows more about politics and getting something done, than all of the primitives on Skins's island put together.
Montana Max said he wants a bill that will get 60 votes in the Senate, and so he's been cutting out things so as to get those 60 votes.
Nothing wrong with that. It's life; it's compromise.

Which won`t amount to crap fool as the constituents they represent will vote for them as long as they like their actions including the vote today.
What a bunch of idiots.

But, neighbor, will the moderates?

But, neighbor, will the moderates?
If it turns out to be a CYA thing and then have it rammed through later then no,it might be a tipping point.
If it all dies a needed death then nothing much will change in 2010 as long as the dems just sit on their hands to get reelected.
Can they resist their one possible chance for a socialist takeover in this generation?
My guess is eventually no.

Ahhh, I come back from two hours of meeting Hell to find Dan Rather's suit thrown out, and DUmmieland enraged at the knife sticking out of their collective backs. What a great day!

I think the same way, but let's be serious (or is it series? ) here. The chances of them being able to force socialism through after this debacle (no matter what happens) are greatly reduced. The moderates that wanted "hope and change" didn't hope for this type of change . . . and they will take action.
Also, DAT, I just hoisted a Saranac Pumpkin Ale to something else. Gotta do it to the events of the day. Thanks (tanks?) for reminding me. :cheersmate:

They want one republican vote....Why?....so when it blows up they can point and say, "Well, they did it too."....sound like a bunch of kids fussing.

Yup.

It doesn't matter that the so-called public option has been kept out, the Baucus Bill is still an American-dream-killing-monster.

3. I wish someone would say: I'm going to vote for the PO because without it we don't have 60 votes
Do you believe this idiot?????????
The reason they can't get the 60 votes, DUmbass, is because of the public option, not because the Dems won't pass it without it! get a frikkin' clue, asshat!
Geez, this is like talking to night crawlers!

They really are under the disillusioned viewpoint that Dems should campaign however they need to in order to get elected, but once they're in they need to go hard left. I suppose I've recognized this before, but it's really come to light the last few weeks. It adds a whole new layer of stupid to all their personal viewpoints; another layer of stupid on top of the other billions upon billions of layers of stupid they already possessed.

It would be the same for me as a Conservative in NY to be shocked that a Republican elected from here would be more liberal then a dem from the midwest or south.
While kinda funny to watch it is a key insight into how actually dim they really are in life.
