We went to Boy Scouts tonight (he's a Bear Cub) and he was the best behaved boy there. Also, of the four Bear Cubs (3rd graders), he was the best reader.

Awww......I love that!

As well you should be, good for him! Aren't kids creepy these days?

Awesome! I loved Scouting. Family has a longstanding tradition in both.

Cannot wait till my daughter is of age...I always wanted to be a girl scout...but my parents never signed me up....so now I can live as girl scout vicariously through her...lol
congrats on your boy!

I don't know where you are in FL, but I lived there, in Plantation in my yoot. My GS troop's camping trip was near Burt Reynold's land in Jupiter, I think? Most awesome. Still remember it like yesterday.

Good job!

It is so great to see a father so proud of their son. He is going to grow up a great man because of you.

Good for you and him. Keep him in Scouting until he's 18 if you can. You'll enjoy his adventures as much as he does. ....and boy did I enjoy doing the pinewood derbies with my son... :-)
My son is 14...started off in the Cub Scouts at age 6 or 7.... and continues to love scouting. Week before last, they made him Senior Patrol leader and last night was his first time to conduct the weekly Scout meeting. The Scout Master and assistant Scout master are of the opinion that it is for boys, run by boys, with them there to keep them between the ditches, so to speak. They stress individual responsibility and leadership.
They are now backpacking about every other weekend, getting in shape and gearing up for their trip to Philmont NM next summer. My son will be expected to be troop leader for the 3 week trip.
Son has finally got what he wanted, a position of authority...now we wait and see if he can handle it without failing or abusing it. He's in the ninth grade this year and joined the JROTC. His JROTC instructor told him that Scouts have a head start on other students that haven't been in scouting.

Nah. I don't worry about kids being creepy until they're in their teens. Kids are kids. What I was thinking was, "What is wrong with these kids' parents?" Apparently discipline is a lost art.

I  your pride in your son.
