Sharon Tate Crime scene photos: Warning:Graphic

I wonder how some here would deal with your expecting wife being hacked to death, slowly.
Yeah, Polanski is guilty. Yeah the girl was 13 and possibly appeared and acted 16, and she was drunk and carrying drugs but technically he raped her. She forgave him many years ago. And she is now probably more wealthy than a lot of republicans.
I dare you to look at the police photos of his very pregnant wife. Then tell me whether or not some compassion is called for in the courts.
Minimum sentence, all things considered.

Doesn't matter.
So his wife's brutal murder is an legitimate excuse for him raping a 13 year-old girl?
Not buying it. More apologist bullshit.

6. There is no excuse, and we all need a nice teevee trial again.
Because lets face it, war and criminal trials are entertainment now.
But I still say leniency in this case.

75. I agree, especially since I took the time to learn a bit more
about this case. Even the prosecutor was outraged over the way this case was run, together with the girl herself, who said she was harmed far more by what happened to her in court than the incident itself, and much more information that is available, this is a waste of time, imo.
And a minor point for the law-and-order types, rabid for revenge, rather than justice. He was NOT convicted of rape, so it is a lie to keep repeating that. The law is the law, as they keep reminding us, and the case has been decided, and rape was not the crime.
It's interesting too, that when his wife and child, (named Paul), and three of their friends, plus a fifth person were so brutally murdered on their property, Polanski was accused in the press of having murdered them. More knee-jerk behavior that he had to wait five months before being able to refute it.
Sometimes I feel like I'm on a rightwing site when I come here.
America has a long way to go before we catch up with the rest of the civilized world. This lust for revenge, in a situation that has been settled for years between all the parties, and is no longer our business, is really disturbing.

98. Thank you, Sabrina1. It is a disturbing trend.
I didn't present my case well in my OP, but the info you bring to this thread is excellent.
I completely forgot to mention the three friend murdered there as well.
People think that celebrities always have it easy. Imagine having the world believing for some time that you brutally murdered your wife, baby, and friends. And then imagine being constantly being reminded of the murders through the media for decades.
This lust for revenge you speak of is rearing it's ugly head all over this country and especially on the right. But seing it here is indeed disturbing.
Holy ****ing Hell...

8. Nope- no circumstances can be taken into accout in the pursuit of retribution
Can't let anything get in the way of the quest for a pound of flesh.

Rape's not a big deal to you.

13. You're still at it with the false attributions
Tough dealing with obsessives, because the tendency is to go to any lengths to justify the object (or abstract idea) of the obsession- including ridiculous smears regarding attitudes toward various crimes.
You really should read Les Mis- it's a long book, but one of the most rewarding I've ever read.

Is that ever going to happen?

47. I was a crime victim once. The criminal didn't ask for leniency.

The judge, though relayed the guy's past and after hearing it, I agreed with the reduced sentenced.
Of course it was no where near as serious as what we are discussing here.
Oh yeah, he was poor, too. And black. And he was no Kennedy.

81. If she was 15 and the rapist shot an arrow into the groin of a Saddam Hussein dummy
he'd have a career in the Repugniconvict "liberal" media ...
This thread actually devolves into a worse train wreck further down. I didn't have the heart to cross post it.

It's not "technically" rape, it IS rape to have sex with someone who is not legally able to consent.

Statutory rape. While they are at it, they should forgive Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Osama bin Laden, etc. These people have no clues what forgiving is.

nope. rape. she did not consent. she was boozed and drugged. no position to do much.

That is rape right there. Statutory rape can apply even if both consent or if it involves mentally disabled people. I wonder how many of the DUmmies call themselves Christians.

Well the DUmmies seem to forget that fat teddy the swimmer killed a girl he was having an affair with because "of all the good" he did. :puke:

For what it's worth there is no such crime as "Statutory rape." It is either rape (aka various kinds of sexual assault) or consensual sex. Inability to consent due to being under the age of consent is exactly the same crime as having sex with someone who is unconscious, drugtged, or otherwise incapable of legally consenting.

Yeah, that's very true.
