I think there's a shortage on canned pumpkin from low harvest last year. I wanted to get some the other day at TJ's and none to be had. I didn't check the big stores yet. They'll be ripe in a week or so --I might just have to roast my own.

2. I think most stores don't expect people to eat them and only start stocking them after the first week of October so they won't rot before Halloween.
I've had a craving for Mexican candied pumpkin lately.

6. Yes, there is. I went to 3 stores looking for canned pumpkin last week and was unable to find any. One of the clerks told me the pumpkin crops this year were lousy.
I thought Bo took care of crop failures. The primitives promised us he would.

You may have noticed a shortage of canned pumpkin on store shelves.
A viewer brought this to Fact Finder's attention, so we did some checking Thursday to learn the reason.
We called Nestlé, which makes Libby's Pumpkin, and Spokeswoman Roz O’Hearn confirmed there is currently a nationwide shortage, but she said that won't be the case for much longer.

Thank you for posting of the above news item. I purchase pumpkin every week as I mix it with homemade dog food as it is a good source of soluble fiber and anti-oxidents. Ut sure makes life a lot easier.
One doesn't want to think too hard about exactly how this makes his life "a lot easier".

If it wasn't weather related then it might mean that some outside force had created a mal-investment by offering an incentives for pumpkin growers to grow something else instead.... for example corn....
