Federal counterterrorism officials warned local police to patrol stadiums, hotels and entertainment complexes for suspicious activity after the arrest of a Colorado man suspected of a far-reaching terror plot.
But New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly downplayed terror fears there, saying there was no specific threat and he wasn't increasing manpower or security efforts as a result of the new directive by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security.
"There’s no specific information out in the areas you’ve just mentioned — entertainment areas, sports arenas," Kelly told reporters at a Tuesday morning briefing in Manhattan. "We have not increased our practices or security. … We are, every day, up to a level that exceeds any other city that I’m aware of."
The FBI and DHS also issued joint alerts to police around the country to watch storage centers and public transportation systems for any unusual behavior.

They have no idea how big the Zazi terror ring might be and how big this planned attack or wave of attacks might be.

So I wonder which policies and laws put into place after 9/11 helped find out about this??? Will the DUmmies complain then?
-
Anyone hear what the asshat mayor in NY city had to say?
"Since this is just a memo from the FBI, we are not going to pay for the overtime in order to increase security at these venues. There doesn't appear to be any SPECIFIC threat and NY can't afford to pay extra HomeLand Security Forces or Police." (wonder why that is?)
So, looks like you guys are screwed in NY! As I recall, there was no increased specific threats before 9/11 either. Glad this is "your" asshat and not mine!

So are we on the lookout for right-wing anti-abortion terrorists?
Are we looking for a tea party gone bad?
Has the Southern Poverty Law Center put out a character sketch of these terrorists we're looking for?
Nope. These are friends of Obama. All they really want is a good dialog. They'll soon see they have nothing to fear from America-Obama promised.

Maybe Ooooobama and that MonkeyBoon from the UN will write 'em a strong letter. Then we'll be safe again. :bs:

Remember that little Muslim Prayer Meeting this Friday morning on the steps of the US Capitol?
50,000 are going to be there with their backpacks, prayer rugs, no telling what else.

I doubt they will detonate in the midst of faithful muzzies. That said, there are plenty of other targets in the area.
Frankly I don't think the jihadists want us to fear large groups of muslims just yet. I'll bet they will do plenty of testing, like leaving unattended backpacks with nothing inside, or having clerics act suspicious. That way they can claim victim-hood.

What better way for them to claim victimhood than to stage an attack on their "peaceful" assembly at the White House?

They sure did plenty of it in Iraq!

Someday the idiot muslims will wipe out a 100 thou or so at a ball game, NASCAR race, etc. and the citizens of the US won't need the presidents permission to go to war.

You have to wonder just when that will happen.
UT's stadium seats over 106,000 people. Since 9/11, cops are stationed at the gates, and will go through purses (even very small ones -they've gone through mine) and backpacks. But if there are five cops all searching bags and purses...there are other people walking past who aren't being searched. I've had mine searched, and I've also walked in and not been searched as they were all busy.
Also, pockets aren't searched. Think how many pockets are in a pair of cargo pants and what could be stashed in them.
UT's is also right close to the river....with a four lane road between the two. What's to stop a boat or a pickup loaded with explosives, pulling righ up nearby?
Nothing.....

You don't have to hijack a passenger plane to be flying around in a 747/757....and one of those brought down on the front strech of a big NASCAR race would wipe out a hundred thousand people plus a whole industry.
It's good I'll never be president because, if the muzzies pulled somthing like that off, I'd get 2-3 million muzzies when they went on the next Haj to Mecca.

I wouldn't wait until the next Haj. I'd launch a couple of Trident D-5's the next day. 8 MIRV's per bird targeted on locations in Somalia, Yemen, Iran, NW Tribal Areas, Afghanistan.

Lob one nuke into the desert....as a warning.
Announce that they have 48 hrs to hand over Osammy. Failure to do so will result in Afghanistan glowing in the dark for the next 1000 years.
Iran, Somalia, Libya and Yemen will follow suit if there are ANY more terrorist attacks. Don't f*ck with us.
Notify Pakistan and Iran that they might want to move their countries upwind for a while....oh and our aim isn't always so good.

500 meters of CEP (With the Trident D-5; Peacekeeper has a 90 meter circle) is "not always so good"?
I'll agree it isn't up to the professional standards set by the F-117s, where the first bomb rings the doorbell for the bomb that follows, but when you're throwing around nukes, who's gonna notice?

Ho about neutron bombs?? are those just myths?

There's nothing mythical about "Enhanced Radiation" warheads; except the myth that they can kill all the people and leave the buildings standing. There's still blast and flash damage present, not to mention the secondary fires; if I remember correctly though, (this is where I wish DragonSoldier from the MilNet board would step in) it's just reduced in it's radius of effect.

That's too bad. I'd say we should test them on a couple of the more liberal cities here...

*wink, wink* = we might "accidentally" land a few in your backyard too. :uhsure: :innocent:
