One of my friends just called me about something totally unrelated to healthcare. However because of the conversation about sports, sports physicals came up. She took both of her kids in for a well visit today to get their shots updated and get the form signed for school and sports. She asked the nurse to also give them their flu shots since they were there and she didn't want to schedule another visit.....
"YOU CAN"T HAVE THEM UNTIL NEXT WEEK" says the nurse. "Why?" asks my friend. "Because we have to give out all of the medicaid and CHIPS program shots first before we can give regular patients their shots" says the nurse. So the people who actually pay for health care can't get it while those who don't pay can. How is that for bullshit universal fair health care?

I'd be quite curious as to the reasoning behind that. I could understand if the shipment of flu vaccines they have on hand were specifically sent and earmarked for those patients by the government. If that's not the case though... I just can't imagine the reasoning?

That is most likely the case.
