Title: Observation About DU, Re: The conservative movement
Post by: SSG Snuggle Bunny on September 21, 2009, 01:43:51 PM
It seems DU is suffering a bit of shizophrenia: for every thread bemoaning the GOP as invincible because of its stranglehold on the MSM there is at least one thread crowing that the GOP is about to turn far right and on into obscurity. Of course, neither of these theories hold true.

The first supposition seeks to excuse Obama and the democrats historical bungling of a near historical electoral mandate, i.e. how can a party elected to positively endorse America's first non-white president on the heels of the most unpopular president since Jimmy Carter sudenly become less popular than Jimmy Carter in less than 8 months. Yes, we do dominate talk radio and FOX but FOX is up against CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC and talk radio is up against WaPo, NYT, LA Times, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, AP, (hem)Reuters et al. Moreover, nobody is ompelled to watch/listen/read anything they don't want to.

The second supposition is based on wishful thinking. It denies this administration's unpopularity and it comforts the story-teller with promises of political vegeance. Yes, the story goes, there is a massive groundswell of populism opposing their agenda but just as soon as it starts raining puppy dogs and gumdrops the American people will forget all about the pricetag and will instead exact a grim electoral scourging upon the conservatives that obviously oppose such schemes for no reason beyond the fact that they hate cute furry animals and candy.

Still, it an interesting phenomenon to watch but the level of cognitive dissonance required to watch these theories develop--not only in absence of foundation in fact--but in contradiction to each other is telling.

QUERY: if the first story is true--that ahandful of rich media moguls can so absolutely captivate the public's consciousness of current events and the interpreation thereof--why would these same monied interests fret what the electorate would suddenly punish "their guys" with political oblivion?

Or, if political oblivion is in the offing why are the dems foundering so pathetically in the first place? The only thing stopping them is public opposition. But how can they oppose lest they know and how can they know lest some sort of media does the informing? Of course the GOP doesn't need an iron fisted grip on the MSM, and obviously they don't, but the fact that a party that has a death grip on congress and the WH is so paralyzed betrays the reality that it probably not the GOP that shall suffer 14 months hence.

It is my theory that the sloth and greed that makes them demand government handouts paid for by other people's money prevents them from dealing objetively with reality. In other words: they want what they want and no amount of truth telling will impede their demands that reality conform to their wishes.

Discuss.

You answered the question with your opening statement.  The DUmmies are shitzofrantic/manic-depressive.  They go from one extreme to the other with no leveling out in the "normal" region, where most of us dwell.

You've got a group who believe the "corporate media" is RW, and once this is magically revealed in a way no one can dare deny, then the Republican party and/or conservatism will be totally rejected.  Of course it's  :mental:.  That's what they do.

The primitives are a walking example of cognitive dissonance and projection.  Liberalism, minus the ability to completely control the conversation, is DOA.  They can't completely control the conversation, ergo their continuing to want to regulate the media down to only the voices of whom they approve.  Ever hear any of us talk about KO or Maddow or any of the other goons being removed from the networks?  No, they're insignificant.  But you can hardly go a day without seeing the primitives calling for Limbaugh, Hannity, etc... to be arrested for the potential of inciting violence.

When we call them entertainment, that's as plain and simple as it gets, and it cuts right to the heart of just who and what they are.  They're like these enviro nuts who go out and disrupt gas piplines; they're less than minor inconveniences and overall have little to no effect.  Point, laugh, enjoy their rantings and inconsistencies, realizing all the time they're nobody's who either wish they weren't nobody's or have fooled themselves into believing they are somebody's.

I think we can all agree on the effect.  The cause is probably more complex than that, though.

It's because they make up whatever shit they have to in order to support their claims. What they make up today is in no way related to what they made up yesterday, or will make up tomorrow.

Ha. I can't help but think of Rush or Glenn on the telescreen with DUmmies shouting, spitting, and writhing in a mixture of horror and fury for 2 minutes.

It isn`t just today, yesterday or tomorrow,it is a constant effort for them to keep contradicting beliefs apart in their "minds".

They are primitives, and have neither history, nor future - whatever occupies them in the moment is what has always been, So holding two totally contradictory ideas is possible because the moment they switch from one notion to another, the first notion ceases to exist, or in most cases actually never existed as far as the primitive is concerned.

Well Mr Bunny these are the same goons who said President Bush wasn't smart enough to tie his own shoes but yet he was behind 9-11, downing of Wellstone's plane, and killing tons of black folks in NO. Someone that stupid not only was behind it but, was never caught doing it either.
Some of the goons try to claim that Rove and/ or Cheney was really behind it but, still if he was as stupid as they say he would have not been able to cover up that he was involved in all this crap.

DU is a sad and hilarious combination. The things they dream up are entertaining and laughable but, it's sad that they are dumb enough to believe this shit. It's also very very maddening how they are supportive of rights for terrorists yet want to strip law abiding, decent, normal folks of any rights.

Of course it is not at all isolated to DU. All of utopian leftism was always thus. Kill a few more thousand people and everything will be better. Print more money and we will be richer. Pay farmers to plow under their crops while paying them to grow crops. Pay them not to grow crops and if they grow too much we will buy the excess and store it forever. This will keep prices from getting too low. Of course we will also need food stamps...

We have thousands of bureaucrats writing and enforcing policies that are supposed to replace free will and free exchange. They cannot even come close to improving on it. They cannot even come close to matching it. I bet these government employees thank God every day to even have a job, and that may the sheep never understand what a wholesale crock it all is.
