Title: Barack Obama ready to slash US nuclear arsenal
Post by: Mr Mannn on September 20, 2009, 05:26:27 PM
So THIS is why Lord O appointed himself as head of the UN Security Council.

Barack Obama has demanded the Pentagon conduct a radical review of US nuclear weapons doctrine to prepare the way for deep cuts in the country's arsenal, the Guardian can reveal.

Obama has rejected the Pentagon's first draft of the "nuclear posture review" as being too timid, and has called for a range of more far-reaching options consistent with his goal of eventually abolishing nuclear weapons altogether, according to European officials.

Those options include:

• Reconfiguring the US nuclear force to allow for an arsenal measured in hundreds rather than thousands of deployed strategic warheads.

• Redrafting nuclear doctrine to narrow the range of conditions under which the US would use nuclear weapons.

• Exploring ways of guaranteeing the future reliability of nuclear weapons without testing or producing a new generation of warheads.

Common wisdom has led to MAD, Mutually Assured Destruction, as the only defense against a nuclear attack.
Lord O seems to take the extreme liberal view that defenselessness shows our enemies we are no threat to them and thus they will disarm because we shamed them into it. The only reason China and Russia never nuked us was our ability to counter attack. There was no way to win with MAD.

Take away the MAD defense and there will be no reason NOT at attack the US. We are the only obstacle to Russian and Chinese imperialism.

Add to this the shooting down of the Eastern European missile defense system in face of coming Russian war of reconquest against her former slave states and you have the recipe for more war, not less.

Does anyone seriously think Obama will invest in an anti-missile defense for the US?  You're a fool if you do.
We are one executive order away from death. Obama will kill the greatest nation on earth.

The review is due to be completed by the end of this year, and European officials say the outcome is not yet clear. But one official said: "Obama is now driving this process. He is saying these are the president's weapons, and he wants to look again at the doctrine and their role."

Well. That's certainly enlightening. Foolishly, I thought they belonged to the American people since we paid for them.

Haven't you listened to the moonbats from the DUmp?  Every dollar you make belongs to government, only by it's largess do you get to keep anything.

"The president's weapons" . . . like the nukes are Hot Wheels are something, betrays a child-like outlook on the issue. O's just beginning to screw up national security through his hard-left agenda, elections have consequences.

I read somewhere, it's been a little while, where he said that mothballing a few carriers would dramatically help the Domestic Budget. I assume he means health care, newspaper bailout, paying Charlie Rangels tax bill, etc. I wish I had a link, but I can't remember where I read it.
Can't even remember the exactly the way it was phrased. I do recall that the Enterprise will be mothballed and one of the Nimitz class, when it's next refueling is due. I'll have to drag out Proceedings and see which one.

USNI's Proceedings of Sept. 2009. Pg 10. An article by Capt. Manvel states the intention is mothballing the USS Abraham Lincoln instead of refueling her. It goes on to state that Billions will be saved with her retirement and the disbanding of her airwing. This, with Enterprises retirement could save multiple billions.
Capt. Manvel, by the way, is writing to defend the carriers role, and is against the retirements. His, and other articles show plainly, that Carriers form up to 79% of available air assets in some overseas uses of the military.
I say, we need the carriers.

The left always dismantles the military.  :banghead:

On a side note, I saw the name Captain Marvel instead of Captain Manvel.
