Title: Have you blocked anyone on Facebook?
Post by: jinxmchue on September 18, 2009, 10:16:19 AM
I have three people blocked now and they all have one thing in common: they're all atheists.  Wait.  They have two things in common: they're atheists and they're jackasses.  I have no problem with atheists, but if you're going to be a jackass, then I have a problem.  The latest guy I blocked decided to join Special Keef and the rest of the retards at BS-NBC and call me a racist (not exactly directly, but it was pretty obvious).

I have blocked a few people....not because of their political views, but because they are incessantly talking about every little thing they do....I don't need to know if they talked on the phone and how many times, peed, or pooped today. ::)

Did you just hide their posts or permanently block them?  I've got a lot of people hidden because I just can't keep up with it all.  I can still visit their profiles and talk to them, though.  With the block, they can't even find you in a search for your name.

Just one person, actually, whom I didn't know really to begin with. Permanently blocked her.

A few peeps.

2 are from my real world: a female I used to work with years ago who was take more and more passive aggressive little digs more recently. We differed greatly on politics. I figured it was time to cut her loose since I must not remember our aquaintance in the same way she did or she's that petty(more likely) that my politics irked her(she was in a 'green' profession that made that very likely too btw--moonbat city!).

The other was an ex boyfriend from way back when who I reluctantly allowed on there to begin with(I'm friendly with his SO and his extended family since I knew them for so many years). He decided to overstep with my current friends on facebook so I gave him the permaboot.

The other 2 or 3 are internet personalities(none from this board) who I have no interest in interacting with, but I know their real names so I made sure they were blocked ahead of time so no embarrassing interchange has to happen as far as denials of friend requests. LOL I know others here are more open, but I've limited the number of internet peeps I have on my facebook since I primarily use that site to interact with friends in my real life and family.

When people do what debk mentions, I just hide their wall posts so I don't have to view them. I had a girlfriend who incessantly posted what she was doing from her friggin phone! I may have a day where I do a lot at home and I might update 3 or 4 times, especially if something is going in current events, and then somedays I wouldn't say anything at all, but every 30 minutes to half an hour everyday about sitting with the dog at the park or sipping coffee? Geez, louise!  That's why I don't do that Twitter thing. :p

I haven't blocked anyone; I have denied friendships and I have my searchable mode on the highest settings. For example, while I think it's a hoot to catch up with old college and high school friends, I have no interest in grade school peeps.

Ooops...they are hidden...not blocked.  :thatsright:

When I get friend requests that I don't know who they are, I just don't accept them....though on some, I have later on once I figure out who they actually are. ....like from here and another site, because I don't know what their real names are.

I was enough of an asshole in bad-mouthing the People's Republic of Callifunny, that I had one of my friends from the LA area block me.

That's the only experience I have with blocking or being blocked though.  Though I have been sorely tempted....

I have hidden a few and ignored request but thats about it . I probably should have blocked someone because not long ago someone sent spam in my name to my friends on Facebook so I had to change my password.

Well I guess there is a first time. I cut someone loose tonight . He decided that being an asshole was more important then  just ignoring my post that had nothing to do with him and at 11:30 at night too. Hardly knew the bitch anyway.

I think all my Facebook friends are conservatives. Except for a GOP politician or too. I don't know any of them personally.

Having said that ..... I keep an eye on what they are posting and texting .... I just don't need it showing up on my wall every 2 minutes.

I like to post stupid stuff to make fun of it all. For example my status might say "I need to pee"  :evillaugh:

A couple girls from high school had new last names or changed the first name they used....at first I was like "who is this" and I would go ahead and add them as friends, as I would notice we had mutal friends, then I would have to ask around to find out who in the heck they were. Mostly it's just girls I did not pay much attention to in school that are really CUTE now.  :evillaugh:

One girl got on a plane and flew to Vegas for a week and we stayed at a resort for a few nights, three others I visited during my trip back to Illinois on Labor Day weekend...my back is still sore from sleeping in so many different beds.

A few other old friends I caught up with at an outdoor concert & beer garden, many of them had just been recently added on Facebook.

I wish the "games" did not post so many updates & the updates seem to increase in size, they are like mini-billboards.

I   Facebook.

It's hard for me to see my niece & nephews posts when they are having a hard time at home. Still not used to knowing my nephew uses bad words! But if my sister was my mother, I would be cussing also.  :evillaugh:

LOL! Oh HELL no.  My kids better not post any cuss words.  That would be a serious offense!  They just post crap like;  I love "so and so".  "hey did you see that dude at school today who was wearing ...."  But they post it over and over and I just don't need the spam.

Does anyone know if there's a way on Facebook to hide a single Wall post -- but not all the posts from a certain person?  My new niece-in-law posted that creepy Will Ferrell, et. al. pro-healthcare commercial on her wall and I really want to make it disappear (along with her moonbat friends and relatives comments), but not to make all of her posts disappear. I know as time goes on it won't appear on my opening screen but it's really bugging me! Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance!

If you are looking at it on your page, drag your mouse directly to the right of the title, and a little box named "hide" should be there, and that should take care of it for you.  I do that with some of the loony tune moonbattery I get as well.

I guess it's actually on my "News Feed" page which comes up first when I login.  When I try to hide it, I only get the option to hide the person, not the individual post.  I don't really want to do that as she and my nephew live 3,500 miles away in Oregon and it's a convenient way to keep in touch.  Maybe I'll have to subscribe to more news feeds to push it off the first page! Wonder if CC has a news feed . . .

The good news is....no one else can read what's on your main-news feed page unless they are friends with the person who is writing on your page....
