A Virginia judge on Wednesday set a Nov. 10 execution date for John Allen Muhammad, mastermind of the 2002 sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C., area that left 10 dead.
The attorney general's office last week requested that the execution be on Nov. 9, but Prince William County Circuit Judge Mary Grace O'Brien chose a day later. The date, which falls on a Tuesday, was picked so courts would be open the day before in case they have to take up last-minute appeals, said Jonathan Sheldon, Muhammad's attorney.
The date was picked during an early morning conference call with the judge, the attorney general's office and Sheldon.
Sheldon said Muhammad will appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and ask Gov. Timothy M. Kaine for clemency.
Muhammad was sentenced to death for the slaying of Dean Meyers, who was shot at a Manassas gas station during a three-week killing spree in October 2002 that left 10 dead in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

I hope they botch the execution and he lingers for a month.

I suppose this will give the pro-Mumia crowd time to make plans to attend.

Would Obama be dumb enough to commute the sentence to life?

Yes. Would anybody around him be a fast enough talker to get him to momentarily pull his head out of his ass BEFORE he commits that monumentally stupid mistake? 50/50.

Of course. After all, this criminal is a Black Muslim.

May I have the pleasure of eating his meals, drinking his fluids and pulling the plug?

Nope, we should do the humane thing like the left did with Terry Shialvo (sp?), and just let him starve to death.
-
Or let everyone that lost a family member or friend in his murdering spree take a rock and throw it at him. A good old fashioned stoning is what he needs

Good, let's fry this guy. I support the death penalty in first-degree murder cases. I get tired of the endless threads at DU asking for sympathy for convicts on death row. They are always presented as definitely or probably innocent, of course. In reality, there is no significant evidence that any death row inmate has been wrongfully executed in recent times.

Wow, and you're still allowed at DU?

Wow, and you're still allowed at DU?
Yes, because I never discuss the death penalty. If I did I would be tarred and feathered, as you can see.

That doesn't bother you about your party?
I founded this site. I'm socially moderate. I am, however, fiscally and militarily conservative as hell. I used to be a Libertarian before they went nuts. I have only voted for a Republican Prez twice, those being for Bush. I voted for Perot in '92 and '96.
Everyone on "this" site respects that. We all have differing views on different matters. At DU? You must conform or shut your mouth. What does that remind you of?
-
That doesn't bother you about your party?
It does, but most of my other values are similar enough that I find participation worthwhile. Nothing's perfect. There's never going to be 100% agreement with any political party (for me anyway), so I pick the one I identify with on most (but not all) issues.
That being said, I've been calling myself "independent" lately. It's not because I've moved to the right, but because I'm no longer comfortable calling myself a Democrat when that party is pro-abortion, anti-death penalty, hypocritically corporatist, obsessed with all things LGBT to a disproportionate degree, in love with radical feminism, misguided regarding race issues, unrealistic about gun control and other violence-related issues, etc. Those problems with the Democratic movement aren't new for me, I've always had them.
I have always been a Democrat for economic reasons. I am an incorrigible economic leftie. But the social package that comes with the Democratic party is not very attractive to me overall. Unfortunately, the Green and Socialist parties also push the same social package, so there's no relief there, either. A third party that is economically progressive and socially moderate does not exist. I've considered starting one myself, but I'd rather someone of significance do so. Never seems to happen, though.

Dude, or chick, I've been an independent since I arrived on the political scene. There's a reason I didn't name this "Republicancave".
