The Tea Party Express -- a gathering of activists protesting what they view as out-of-control spending by an expanding federal government -- has arrived in the nation's capital Saturday.
Thousands of people marched to the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, carrying signs with slogans such as "Obamacare makes me sick"
The line of protesters completely filled Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. People were chanting "enough, enough" and "We the People." Others yelled "You lie, you lie!" and "Pelosi has to go," referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.
Others are waving U.S. flags and holding signs reading "Go Green Recycle Congress" and "I'm Not Your ATM." Some men are dressed in colonial costumes. Police on motorcycles and horses watched as the marchers passed. ...

Even ABC is estimating the crowd at 2 million - 1.8 million for Obama's inauguration.

The ultimate in flattery:
I saw on a liberal blog people were starting to say that they should plan the same thing. I'll head over to the DU to see when that talk starts up.

Realistically, how many people can afford a trip to DC during a recession? That, and the fact that school just started. In hindsight we should have had rallies all around the country on the same day, just like the spontaneous tax day parties.
No matter, I don't think we have to prove anything to anyone by congregating en masse, the important thing is to keep the pressure on in terms of phone calls, letters, etc. Put these peckerheads on notice! :-)

We had a Tea Party today...slightly smaller crowd than on July 4 but still good for our small town. Had several good speakers and 2 fellows spoke that are seeking to unseat John Spratt(D) for his 5 th district seat in the US House of Representatives. Both were/are young (to me anyway) military men one retired Army, the other 20 years active duty and now in the SCNG ....AND NIETHER ONE IS A DAMN LAWYER.
My 14 year old son is losing some of his shyness....on his own he sought out and Shook the hands of a couple of the speakers. He asked one Dr. (PhD) of education that made an excellent speech to come make that speech at his high school. When my son told him where he went, he said he'd be afraid to.

I liked that clip. I thought the reporter obsessed over Joe Wilson a tad too much, but overall was a lot better than most CNN reporters.
I happened to be watching Faux News Channel and they were referring to the protesters as anti-reformers as teaser for some Geraldo episode. Was that Geraldo's choice of words or what? In any case, they are misrepresenting the cause. The protesters are anti-big government, period, get it right or stfu. :-)

It's too bad the Republicans did not put forth as much effort to find a canidate that could win. The grass roots activism from the Right is great, just a few years too late.
-
I talked to a friend of mine tonight who works with Dick Armey's group that helped organize the event and he said it was "1.5 million people easy"...
And this... I bet Obama had to immediately visit the on-board "head" once he saw the crowd.
As Mr. Obama traveled to Minnesota on Saturday to rally support for his health care plan, he flew over the assembling crowd in Marine One. The helicopter could be seen flying overhead as the demonstrators marched down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Obama and the Dems better wake pay close attention. This is quite definitely growing into more than just a bunch of radicals clinging to their guns and bibles.
Wonder how long before the Hollywood buffoons start their rant against us small people?
-
Lamar Alexander, definitely not a "hot-head," said that if the Dems try to force this through, there will be a "minor revolution" by people in the 2010 elections. I'd take out the word "minor" and push up the time frame a tad, IMO.
Lurking DUmb****s--it will be a violent, bloody revolution--and it will end horribly for your side. You are warned.

The definitive answer to the number in the crowd:
This is a graphic from USA Today showing how they counted the number of people at Zero's inauguration.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-01-19-crowd_N.htm
Then look at the time lapse video from yesterday (and to lurking dummies ~ no this video is not faked or edited). This is the same video from above.

That video gives me good chills when we stand together in our ideas we will not be ignored
-
I wouldn't be surprised if it came out to be 1.5-2 million range.

It seems now the left is demonizing this time lapse video as being from another event, and not at all connected to the 9/12 demonstration. I found yet another link of great photos I've not seen here yet that would be impossible to deny as one can read the protest signs in the crowd shots.

The White House on Friday claimed it was unaware of the planned rally.
"I don't know who the group is," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters with a shrug.

This pissed me off more then anything else. I don't think I'd even hesitate to punch Gibbs in the face for such a smug lie.

So there were anywheres from 50k-2.5M people in DC yesterday, depending on who you ask? I saw some report on NBC that put the number "in the hundreds of thousands", can they possibly be even more vague? Playing around with lens width to distort the figures is easily seen . . .

Yes, the picture is real nutroots. (http://michellemalkin.com/2009/09/12/yes-the-picture-is-real-nutroots/)
Great crowd shots too.

Saturday's "Tea Party" rally in Washington, D.C. far exceeded almost all expectations. Local police agencies estimated around 1.2 million people attended the rally, but several news outlets, including ABC and Fox News, said the crowd was nearly double that, with an estimated 2 million people in attendance.
Several different groups combined to organize the rally, including Glenn beck and his 9/12 project and former Congressman Dick Army and the FreedonWorks Foundation, but most of those in attendance came on their own and said they had never taken part in any type of protest before Saturday.
On Friday the White House claimed they had no idea the rally was even planned. [YOU LIE!]A ridiculous assertion that shows how dismissive the Obama administration and the Democrat-led Congress are of those who oppose their agenda.

This would make a good thread for Political Ammunition under the title of Prominent Black Republicans (PBR's). You could even put a little quiz in where people have to identify dimocats from Republicans. You know, an assortment of prominent dims like Marion "Toot" Barry, "Cold Cash" Jefferson, Jessie Jackson Junior, Charlie 'the lyin' Rangel, intermixed with Prominent Republicans mentioned in your post.

As many as one million people flooded into Washington for a massive rally organised by conservatives claiming that President Obama is driving America towards socialism.
The size of the crowd - by far the biggest protest since the president took office in January - shocked the White House.

Great pics, too!
I heard on the radio that the official police count could have been 1.2 million - 2 million, but that has not been confirmed, yet.

Sorry, Mrs. Smith... someone beat you to it. I'll get them all merged together once I track them down.
PJ Media had an interesting article. Apparently the Forrest Service stopped estimating crowd size after Farakhan's Million Man March resulted in less than half the advertised number. The practice was reinstated for the O-bot's inauguration.

Over a million people...and our media are working so hard to conceal that number. If these had been moonbats, the media would be crowing about the "several millions" that jammed into DC.
