<excerpt>

Eight years ago today, our homeland was attacked by fanatical Muslims inspired by Saudi Arabian bigotry. Three thousand American citizens and residents died.

We resolved that we, the People, would never forget. Then we forgot.

We've learned nothing.

Instead of cracking down on Islamist extremism, we've excused it.

Instead of killing terrorists, we free them.

Instead of relentlessly hunting Islamist madmen, we seek to appease them.

Instead of acknowledging that radical Islam is the problem, we elected a president who blames America, whose idea of freedom is the right for women to suffer in silence behind a veil -- and who counts among his mentors and friends those who damn our country or believe that our own government staged the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

Instead of insisting that freedom will not be infringed by terrorist threats, we censor works that might offend mass murderers. Radical Muslims around the world can indulge in viral lies about us, but we dare not even publish cartoons mocking them.

Instead of protecting law-abiding Americans, we reject profiling to avoid offending terrorists. So we confiscate granny's shampoo at the airport because the half-empty container could hold 3.5 ounces of liquid.

===================================================================================

Amen, amen, AMEN!!!!

The "National Day of Service" disgusts me.  9/11 should be about remembering the victims and not trying to get people to play community organizers.  We don't need to be forced by Obama to do that!

Not only is 0Bama betraying the dead, he's betraying the living.

I don't understand what's so bad about commemorating 9/11 by asking people to go out and help their fellow man.  In the days right after 9/11 people donated blood, money to charities, sweat from their brow to help make this country better.  From what I understand Obama isn't forcing anyone to do anything with this (if he was I'd be against it too), he's asking that we remember by helping out our neigbors instead of grilling out and getting drunk.

If it is that important to 0Bama, then he should have set aside another day as a National Day of Service.  Why not use the anniversary of Katrina?  Lord knows that those people were only helped by others and did nothing to help themselves.
Why not Use Labor Day, nothing really special about that day, at least not to more than a handful of the population anyway.

So it's not the act that bothers you so much as the day he selected, right?  I guess that I see it as him trying to move us passed the saddness and onto things that can really help the country.  At some point don't you think that we need to move passed the anger and sadness without forgetting the day?

Exactly. I don't believe in compulsory compassion (Thanks for that FGL).

At some point, maybe, not this year, nor in the foreseeable future.  Try another perspective.  Is it time to forget Pearl Harbor? Is it time to forget D-Day?  Hey, I know, let's forget all about that nasty slavery thing, that happened even longer ago.  Let's get the race baiters to shut the Hell up about that. Deal?

Isn't D-day "compulsory compassion"? Or any national day of mourning for that matter?  Why not use that energy to help someone?

We should never move passed and anger and sadness of our people being murdered by fanatics who seek to destroy all of us. Barry just wants to control the country in his own manner. He doesn't care about 9/11 because deep down, he feels we deserved it.

If someone's only motivation for doing something nice is 9/11...they I don't want their kindness.  Wanting to volunteer and help people has to come from the heart not Imperial Fiat.

And yes...despite your misguided belief...yes Obama is trying to force people to perform public service on a day that should be reserved for reflection and remembrance.  Not out working some Communist inspired "green jobs" Alinsky style community project.

The Liberals in D.C. want us to forget what 9/11 is really about.

Don't kid yourself about that for a second.

F*ck you for that last comment newbie.  No one is treating 9/11 like some picnic.

Moron.

Not as long as my brother soldiers are on the battlefield running to ground the bastards that were behind 9/11 and flushing out their supporters and sympathizers in hellholes like Iraq and Somalia and other places around the world you've never heard of.

Quit apologizing and defending this moronic POS "Day Of Service".

Ummm...no.  Leave it to a Lib to mistake a general heartfelt outpouring of emotion for brave men who gave their lives for something "forced".

You Libs never have been able to comprehend something that comes from the heart.

He as much as said so in 2001.

Quote
WASHINGTON (AP) -- On Sept. 11, 2001, Barack Obama was driving to a state legislative hearing in Chicago when he heard the first sketchy reports of a plane hitting the World Trade Center on his car radio. The 40-year-old state senator spent the afternoon in his law office watching "nightmare images" of destruction and grief unfold on TV.

Within days, he'd issued a statement about what the nation should do next.

Beyond the immediate needs to improve security and dismantle "organizations of destruction," Obama wrote, lay the more difficult job of "understanding the sources of such madness." He wrote of "a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers," of "embittered children" around the world, of the seeds of discontent sown in poverty, ignorance and despair.
The nuanced musings of an obscure state senator, Obama's statement never even made the big Chicago dailies.

There's that need to understand that liberals know and love.  :mental:  I'm pretty sure than none of the Islamic Terrorist hijackers were impoverished.

I hope you don't think I'm a nut. I believe in my Lord Jesus Christ. If you believe in Life after Death, as our Lord Jesus Christ tells us, then you believe in previous lives. Science tells us that we are energy, and energy cannot be destroyed, but converted from one form to another.

We were all Christian Solders at one time...

Our spirits still live...

Once we take away the reason we remember 9/11 then it is like slapping those who were lost and contiue to lose their lives. I know as long as I have a breath in my body my children nor I will forget
