It's time for me to again express my humble and delighted gratitude to all those who make conservativecave in general, and the DUmpster specifically, such a great place to be, such a cornucopia of wit, illumination, humor, and insight.

I'm not one of the charter members here, but I've been around for almost 21 months now.  Since I usually work from home, I have the advantage of staying logged on to the computer, to this site, to at least once in a while glance at what's going on.

And, of course, being a moderator, I have access to traffic statistics.

So this gives me a certain sort of "sensitivity" to how things are going; to judge at a glance the ebb-and-flow of traffic.

Things are really popping here.

As a moderator, I have to read all that is posted on conservativecave--not just the DUmpster, but all forums--and even though I'm not a slow reader, there are times--such as right now--where I can't keep up with the "unread posts."  By the time I get done reading one, two or three new posts have popped up.

It's just really popping; for those who didn't see, August was our busiest month ever, and September thus far's going along just as fast, if not faster.

It's great.

As for the DUmpster specifically, I have to thank Freeper, GOBUCKS, thundley4, and USA4ME, for all of their "topics started," which seem to draw the lurking primitives like flies to a bowl of honey.  And thanks to not only those who start topics, but also to those who simply comment on topics.  delilahmusad, Tanker, FGL, and Mrs. Smith, when merely commenting, haul in lurking primitives by the truckload.

I've left a lot of other people important to the success of conservativecave out, and my apologies, I'll try to remember you next time.  The sheer mass and speed here is mind-boggling, and so one doesn't detect everything.

Thank you all; it's great.  I never thought conservativecave would be too much, go too fast, for me.

No need to thank me Frank you can thank Obama for this economy giving me the time to post here.  :-)

I do appreciate the kind words though. And I am glad to shine the light on the morons on the left and get a laugh and vent some anger at the more disgusting posts they put on the screen. It's nice to have a forum to counter the BS they are spouting even, if they don't see it, at least I get a chance here, to offer my viewpoint and share it with other folks.

It gets popping around here so much that I usually ignore what members are reading, and concentrate upon only what "guests" are reading.

I just do this for entertainment and occasionally some friendly debate mostly. I think what happens mostly is what catches my eye at the DUmp is something that most folks will find interesting.

It does a lot for my ego when someone of your caliber praises me. You sir are our resident intellect.

This really is a great site and it's encouraging to hear a Mod's view on the traffic increase.  I love being able to see how many Guests are around and have recently noticed quite an uptick in the number whenever I pop in.

I try to comment more than bring topics over, but on the days when it seems Franks busy with real life then I visit the Island of Mental Illness more often.

After the first surge, when people came here from our old home, growth lagged; it was there, but nearly imperceptible from, say, February-August 2008.  This kind of concerned me, because an election year is "supposed" to bring in traffic.  But nonetheless, conservativecave was growing.

There was contraction, beginning about the time decent and civilized people knew that Bo was going to win the presidency, and even more contraction after the actual election; one can call that "dismorale" or something.  But traffic wasn't nearly as "down" as I had thought it would be.

This year, 2009, started off a little sluggish, with some peaks that could be attributed to certain events, such as January 20, but the trend was inexorably upward.

But the last two months, July and August, growth has been phenomenal.  Not so much in new members--that's increasing, too--but more so in "participation" by members.  Members reading and posting more than they used to.

And for the DUmpster specifically, it appears that at long last, we're known among the primitives of Skins's island.  Moderators of course can see the origins of "guests," and I'm guessing that more than half the visitors to conservativecave come over here from Skins's island.

Earlier this year, as an experiment, I began posting short stories, and then cross-posting them to freerepublic, just to see what would happen, and it far exceeded all expectations.  The intent is not to rob traffic from freerepublic--of course not; no way--but to encourage more interaction between members of these two sites.  I was really surprised to see how that went, and even more surprised that goat glands, at this point, proved to be the biggest traffic-bringer here, from that source.

I was gratified last year when Wretched Excess, so as to accomodate me, raised the "character limit" of posts from 10,000 to 20,000, and then this past summer, when Thor graciously created a special forum for me, not visible to regular members, where I could write as I pleased, at the speed I pleased, and then after something was all done, I could launch the whole thing into a public forum, instead of using all of this to be continued stuff.

But 99.99% of what's making conservativecave such a witty, illuminating, place is that regular members are reading more, and posting more, and for that I personally thank each and every one of you.

With the cool days of autumn, and the dark nights of winter, coming on, it's reasonable to expect yet another good increase, as people generally spend more time indoors those seasons.

However, Coach, if Cap 'N' Tax goes through, we'll all be cutting back on electric power usage.  I've seen on Drudge where Senate Dems are saying that there's no hope of that happening; but you never know.  Cut back on power usage, cut back on computer time.

Thank YOU, frank, and others, for this wonderful forum.

I came over here from FreeRepublic (where I am known as "dirtbiker"), and it seems that I'm here a lot more than there anymore.  I go there mainly to read PJ Comix's DUmmie FUnnies and whatever they have posted about "globull warming".  But I truly feel right at home here in the "cave"....

And thanks to all you wonderful posters that brave the sewer/toxic waste dump known as DemocraticUnderground to bring us those "gleaming jewels of colossal intelligence" that the DUmmies like to post to each other and passes off as "enlightened thinking".... 

I find the fact that these people (and I use that term loosely) have enough mental capacity to type and breathe at the same time truly remarkable, and I often wonder how they can read what is posted thru the crayon scribble on their monitors....

Also, thank you for letting us "express ourselves" with somewhat spicier language than what is allowed at FR.  I try to keep it clean, but to quote Redd Foxx:  "Yes, I said 'SHIT'!  So what?  I'm 50, I feel like a damned fool saying 'Doo doo'"!  Sometimes, you just have to say **** IT, because nothing else will fit....

I came here because a supposedly "conservative" site I used to frequent was being infected with RINOs. The site name shall remain unspoken to protect the innocent. The proverbial straw was when I posted a sign being carried by a protestor, with a picture of The One and Stalin and the words "Same Sh*t, Different As*hole" underneath. This was a placard being carried at a Tea Party, and I was put on "time out" for posting it.

I think I know which site you speak of.  I too was a regular poster there.

I lost a lot of respect for them when a moderator demanded I change my tagline (currently the second one I have here) AFTER I had been using it for over 16 months!  When I commented why he didn't condemn it a year ago, I was threatened with suspension.

SO, I just kept a low profile, until I noticed that frank was cross posting both there and to this place, and I decided to join up.

Loving every minute of it!!!!   :-)
