A senior Kremlin official confirmed Wednesday to the Russian paper Kommersant that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu did indeed make a clandestine trip to Russia on Monday.
Commenting on the visit, the official said that "this kind of development could only be related to new and threatening information on Iran's nuclear program."
The Russian newspaper quoted experts speculating that such a trip would only be justified under extraordinary circumstances, "for example, in the case of Israel planning to attack Iran."
The report comes despite a statement Wednesday from the Kremlin press service that "nothing is known" about reports of the visit. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, also said he had no information, the Interfax news agency reported.
Nevertheless, there was never any official denial of the report from Moscow.

1. Obama has succeeded in pushing Israel into the Russian sphere.
2. War with Iran--at least for the Israelis--seems imminent.
3. The US will try to sit this out while blaming Israel the same why it blames Honduras for upholding its constitution
4. US troops in Iraq are in a heightened danger
5. International shipping in the Gulf is in danger, ergo oil prices in the midst of a world recession.
6. Many will question why Israel was abandoned to go it alone. Expect Obama to lose anoth 5 to 10 points in the polls.
7. Many more will ask why Obama abandoned the EU which favored tougher sanctions
8. Even more will ask why he abandoned the Iranian people when they rose up for democracy
9. Israel can't decisively end Iran nuke program, I seriously doubt they can cripple it beyond 6 months. This is a delaying action designed to goad the world into doing SOMETHING substanitive.
Obama--like Neville Chamberlain--owns this war.
