Oh my.

I went to the cooking and baking forum on Skins's island, to see if the sparkling husband primitive had explained yet, how he managed to carry a fully-loaded chest freezer from the basement to the back yard, but the spoiled food inside was too heavy for him to carry in the garbage can. but alas no explanation.

Anyway, the Gloria Swanson primitive:

Pickled radishes.

I don't even recall where I found this recipe, but I decided to give it a hit.

Believe me, it leaves your refrigerator, no matter how tightly you seal the container, quite odiferous, but it's worth it.

I used the Cuisinart slicing blade, did about 5 cups of radishes. Nice crunchy red radishes, bright and crisp.

Added 1/2 cup rice vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar, and a teaspoon of salt.

Tossed it all together, and left it for a day in a ZipLock bag.

Tonight, transferring them to glass jars, I tasted them.

SO good, it's gonna be hard not to go back there and eat them right out of the jar.

But, boy, they do have a scent!

1. I guess you'd expect them to keep pretty much as long as pickles?

Perhaps pretty much as long as the Gloria Swanson primitive, who's practically a historical artifact now.

I just don't know what's wrong with radishes the way they are. I could sprinkle them with an oil and vinegar dressing and still have that nice tart taste, without the stink.

YUCK, I don't like any of those pickled vegetables like cawliflower, carrots, etc.  Do up the cucumbers and leave it at that.   Oh sauerkraut is good, too.

Always amazes me how DUmmies can screw up perfectly decent foods with some oulandish recipe.

I think the see themselves as some kind of gourmet chefs.

I don't understand why they would stink that badly... nor why she used rice vinegar...

I like different vegetables pickled....whole green beans are really good....particularly stuck in a Bloody Mary... :uhsure:
