Post by: Gratiot on September 07, 2009, 10:23:13 AM
Quote
In 1933 a German book talked about how dangerous an electricity can be. The book had lots and lots of images explaining different different scenarios. Here we present you collection of dome images from the book. We will not describe you what electricity is and the science behind it;  but through these images you can imagine yourself about how our daily life stuffs and careless actions can lead us in danger.

I chuckled at a couple of the pictures.  The one with the bed lamps was too much.

When Thomas Edison was trying to convince people that his direct current was better than Tesla's alternating current, he would show how "dangerous" AC was by electrifying a large metal plate with thousands of volts of electricity and throw stray cats onto it.  I think the man might have been a bit crazy.

I am guessing that was an electric bottle warmer?  Little nipper appears to have unplugged both leads.

Which has already been disproven on Mythbusters.  Didn't those Nazis ever watch them?

You beat me to it. One other thing he did (Edison) was to use a Tesla generator to electrocute an elephant, which, I believe was captured on film.
Despite all this, nearly everything electrical we use today can be traced back to Nikola Tesla.

I read a biography of Edison and Tesla the other day.  Edison was sooooooooo beyond insane, he was a huge dickhead too.  Tesla was insane too but in a kind and gentle way.

What was the name of the biography, sounds pretty neat.  Tesla was certainly an interesting fellow... and IMHO one of the greatest geniuses whom has ever lived.

Edison was a thief. He stole most of his "inventions" from his workers. I believe that was the start of where corporations started making any of their employees ideas corporate property.
