Obama Regulation Czar Advocated Removing People’s Organs Without Explicit Consent
CNSNews.com) – Cass Sunstein, President Barack Obama’s nominee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), has advocated a policy under which the government would “presume†someone has consented to having his or her organs removed for transplantation into someone else when they die unless that person has explicitly indicated that his or her organs should not be taken.
Under such a policy, hospitals would harvest organs from people who never gave permission for this to be done.
Outlined in the 2008 book “Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness,†Sunstein and co-author Richard H. Thaler argued that the main reason that more people do not donate their organs is because they are required to choose donation.
Sunstein and Thaler pointed out that doctors often must ask the deceased’s family members whether or not their dead relative would have wanted to donate his organs. These family members usually err on the side of caution and refuse to donate their loved one’s organs.
If they get Ooooobamacare in place, people may be worth more dead that alive. Same concept that many cars are worth more if sold in parts than sold intact. Just imagine some :censored: gubmint official deciding to pull your plug so he can harvest your parts for others.

They don't have explicit consent to not shoot me in the head, so I guess they can go ahead and do it.

Hey, we have two kidneys and two lungs, we don't need them both. :whatever:

Yes, but what really scares me is the fact we have 2 nuts and libs have none.
They may want us to "pay our fair share".

Eh, I ain't worried. Libs wouldn't know what to do with 'em.

I am probably in the minority here but I think that organs should be routinely removed from dead patients in hopes of giving life to others. I think being buried with your organs is shameful.

There is still personal choice in the matter. I'm all for making people more aware of the option, but I thought it was against some religions?

True.
Lack of knowing what to do with "other parts of anatomy" hasn't stopped 'em from putting it in places it was never meant to be, though.

Judging from the typical male liberal, all they know how to do is cut 'em off.

I agree that more people should donate, but removal without permission is theft, plain & simple.

This kind of thinking reminds me of the excuse Perverts give for having sex with the dead--
Now if the dead has signed papers saying that they wish to SELL their body parts with their family getting the money, that's another kettle of fish.
By coincidence I am at this time reading " STIFF" by Mary Roach----The Curious Life of Human Cadavers.
With the subject being so up setting the author has written it with humor that must be there to allow the reader to relax a bit.
With the scandals of the kidney sellers last month, living humans that sell their body parts I wonder about the Doctors and hospitals that are a major part of the scheme.
Interesting subject, has all the moral, legal and ethical points . It is not uncommon for students to sell their blood or sperm for use of others, why not any other body part.?

There should be more donation, but it's a personal choice that must be preserved. Government making such a decision is more than a slippery slope.
I suppose the next step by Sunstein would be to harvest from those in coma, with life support of any type and the mentally ill; all without personal or family permission.

Considering the usual DUmmie lifestyle....would you really want an organ from one of them?
