Trollspotting

Here are a few things I've noticed that seem to make up the troll playbook for derailing real debate--especially on healthcare.

*calling the person a "whiner" -- I've seen this buzzword used so much since May, when the healthcare debate got ramped up. Definitely part of a script.

*other nasty ad hominems -- "asshole" "shithead", etc.

*accusing the person of being a conspiracy theorist

*defending their defense of Obama with "I thought this was a DEMOCRATIC board"

*any vehement attack on Dennis Kucinich

*childish attempts to derail the debate. They like to get a good bout of name calling going to push the real argument 10-12 replies down in the thread.

I really think their goal is to ruin the political message board experience, to advance whatever agenda they are online to advance. Hope this is helpful. Hopefully we can learn to sidestep and ignore them and not let them keep derailing debate.

Of course another way you can spot a troll is that they have a different opinion than yourself.

Hey, anybody by any chance have a copy of our script to which the ruddy primitive refers?  Can I borrow it for a bit?

Sounded more to me like the DUmmie was pointing fingers at some of his brethren more than at us.
