My aunt isn't very smart.
It's sad, really.
She was raised in a fairly liberal home and then left for Texas at the age of 18 and never looked back. Not only did she leave the Catholic Church, she became a Republican (that's like a twofer in my family).
Well today she was talking to my mom about the talks down there over seceding and how it's just so funny and all the e-mails she gets in support of it.
She then says to my mom, "One said how we'd be self-sustained, you know, with NASA and all..."

Remember when liberal vermont wanted to secede? Only Texas has the sack to do it. Never bothered to review but it's been told that Texas has the right to written into the documents when the Republic of Texas joined the union.

Sadly it was removed from our State Constitution in IIRC 1954.

There was an OpinionJournal.com piece a few years ago (2004, IIRC) that said that Texas has the right to split into six states. Imagine the lefties' faces if that happened. All of a sudden, there's 110 Senators--and 50 are Republicans. Now try a fillibuster . . .

That the libs would even mention the topic shows that they're concerned. I've got a good friend who's a liberal but he's not a moonbat like the freaks on Skin's island, and we were talking the other day about how eventually the USA will collaspe, we just want to try and keep it from happening in our lifetime, and the same can be said of proceeding generations and their desire to keep things going. But it's going to happen at some point down the road, and good chance after the dust settles it will be for the better, especially if this country continues to become more and more liberal. But this is one of the clearest illustrations of how the primitives not wanting Texas to secede truly speaks of their desire to want to control the lives of as many people as they possibly can, it has nothing to do with wanting to preserve the union. If they could trade Texas seceding for having the assurity of an iron cast lock on the people of the other 49 states and forcing them to do as they wanted them to do for the next 1,000 years, they'd jump on it in a second.

Yep, we can still divide into multiples. Five, actually.
