"My sister died today - WITH health care coverage, could not afford life-saving medicine"...
"Last Wednesday, my only sister was taken to emergency because of difficulty breathing. She's had a history of numerous illnesses ranging from lupus, seizures and osteoporosis but this particular visit was more related to her asthma, or so she thought. After being seen by the physician it was determined that her breathing difficulties were worse than anticipated as she was diagnosed with having a case of pneumonia. Feeling blessed to be able to get immediate medical care Karen was of the ranks of the fortunate known as the insured, meaning that she does in-fact have health care coverage which she acquired after being declared medically disabled after her thirty third seizure.
Yes, it took thirty three seizures, 5 appeals, 4 years and 3 lawyers but Karen Jones was finally declared disabled and was granted full disability which included full health care coverage, far from an easy feat but quite reassuring to Karen as she continued on through life. Unable to work due to her disability, Karen lived alone off of the $563 disability check each month as best she could, regularly robbing Peter to pay Paul, but all along able to make ends meet from check to check, and doing so always with a smile."

OK I read the story and she had health insurance and it happened to be GOVERNMENT PROVIDED health insurance.
This is what you clowns want all of us to have? Medicare for everybody....Woohooooo.....

So she has govt healthcare already and still couldn't afford the meds?
Somehow that doesn't sound right.

One prescription to treat pneumonia would cost $197.00?
On a side note, since there is a Blacks4Barack, can start a site called Whites4Palin? :fuelfire:

What a crock of shit...medicad pays for scripts
-
Saying she had "full health care coverage" and then claiming later on it wasn't "as full as she thought"? Someone's not telling the whole story.
.

The drug companies will help get you your meds. This story is bullshit.
-
As I read that through one thought came to mind. Where the hell was her brother? He runs a fancy web site and I would think that if he cared one tenth the amount he has for a communist utopia to his sister, she would be alive.
Guy is right out of the obama mold of having other people coerced to help his and his kind.
**** off for using a death that you could have easily prevented to make a point for your god obama.
-
Of course, DUmmies lie, all the time. This one is "national director" of "Blacks4Barack", so he's
far, far more likely to lie than even garden variety DUmmies. It's overwhelmingly likely this story is
a total fabrication.
Nevertheless, if a situation like this were ever to actually develop in the real world, I would ask
the DUmmy which scenario would give his imaginary sister the better chance to survive:
1. The current system, wherein deadbeats and others unable to pay for medicine have it provided as a dole under Medicaid, or
2. The jug-eared muslim's system, wherein a judgment would have to be made on whether her continued existence was of
benefit to the state.

By his own story, she was on disability, so under 0Bamacare she'd be SOOL.

Yep, I just bought some Tuesday. This person is lying through their teeth.

There are ways to get around everything.
My doctors write out generic prescriptions for me, I am also so called fully insured by Cigna but I have a co-payment.
Without any notice my work place raised the co-pay for specialists [ Chiropractors, Physical Therapy, Nutritionists to Surgeons ] from $20.00 a visit to $40.00.
My PC who does most of the work is still at $20.00 so far.
Through the grape vine I have heard of Seniors that with the help of a friendly doctor have their dose of medication doubled and they cut the pills in half and can make the medication last twice as long.
Sad case a couple of years ago. A Veterinarian in town was trying to help her patients but found their elderly owners were skipping check-ups because the old folks needed money for their own medication.
Things got out of hand, for the Vet. what started out as one person and their pet became just one too many.
How it worked, Say a owner has thyroid medication that costs them a co-payment of $20.00 --the Vet would write out a prescription for that drug and put [ Dog, Cat, whatever] after the name of the pet and the cost was usually under $2.00.
For just one of my medications without insurance it would cost me $160.00 for 30 count.
By a weird chance my dog needed the very same medication, cost for a dog, $10.00.
A family member found out about Grandpa taking medication for his cat and decided to shake down the Vet.
The road to hell is paved on good intentions.
Today people get around that problem for the Vet. The get a RX from their vet and order the drug on line from one company. There are 50 different Co. that will ship you pet meds , the folks order each month from a different CO.
It is horrible that the elderly have to become criminals to have heat in the winter. Society will go up side down to help the kids, the elderly are another story.
We sing songs and write beautiful poems to our fore fathers, when they are long dead and gone.
When our fore fathers are still alive, they are ripe for the picken. All your life you have been told that Grandpas has an account to pay for your college. Last year in high school you find Grandpa has lost all his money in the stock market. He now has just a small pension and needs to use YOUR college money to survive.
Easy to see where this is going. A life time of promise is gone, now the kid needs to take out thousands of dollars in loans to go to school.
Meanwhile Grandpa is still alive and each day burns up any money he has left. The poor old fella can still get around some but sleeps 18 hours a day. All that money to keep him alive eventually in a nursing home where he just exists, eats, voids, and sleeps.
Anyone with Grampas power of attorney can with hold any medication from him, can even issue NO resuscitation orders.
Tempted to find that like putting a pet to sleep, this is for the good of the pet or Grandpa. Poor Grandpa, he does not know anyone of us, he cannot feed himself or speak by a few words. I would never want to spend 5 years in his conditions.
The cost to keep Grandpa alive in this condition is huge, he will never improve, time to pull the plug, he would have wanted us to do this FOR him.

I wonder if the grieving sibling did anything to help his sister or if he sat on his ass and waited for the government.
It kinda smacks of Cain getting uppity when God inquired as to the whereabouts of Abel.
-
As I stated elsewhere, all of these dope-smoking Libs at DU need to understand how much they'll have to change their daily lives just to be covered by the socialized healthcare system. They better think twice before thinking they can keep doing the same **** over and over.
-

.
Well, remember she's talking about GOVERNMENT health care so it's entirely possible the coverage wasn't as full as she thought.

My bet is they are talking about deductible/coinsurance. Not everything is FREE.

Nice article from Feb 2009
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/6127514/Sentenced-to-death-on-the-NHS.html
Sentenced to death on the NHS
Patients with terminal illnesses are being made to die prematurely under an NHS scheme to help end their lives, leading doctors have warned.
In a letter to The Daily Telegraph, a group of experts who care for the terminally ill claim that some patients are being wrongly judged as close to death.
Under NHS guidance introduced across England to help doctors and medical staff deal with dying patients, they can then have fluid and drugs withdrawn and many are put on continuous sedation until they pass away. [The force them to die of thirst and hunger - just like Terry Schaivo.]
But this approach can also mask the signs that their condition is improving, the experts warn.
Some of the information from article
When a decision has been made to place a patient on the pathway doctors are then recommended to consider removing medication or invasive procedures, such as intravenous drips, which are no longer of benefit.
HE ADDED THAT SOME PATIENTS WERE BEING "WRONGLY" PUT ON THE PATHWAY, WHICH CREATED A "SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY" THAT THEY WOULD DIE. He said: "I have been practising palliative medicine for more than 20 years and I AM GETTING MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS "DEATH PATHWAY" that is coming in.
"It is supposed to let people die with dignity BUT IT CAN BECOME A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY.
"PATIENTS WHO ARE ALLOWED TO BECOME DEHYDRATED AND THEN BECOME CONFUSED can be wrongly put on this pathway."

I only skimmed through this.
First I want to offer my condolences to the family.
Second...well...honestly I'm confused. The jest seems to be: My sister had government health care and she died, but I want everyone to have government health care so everyone will be healthy.
Where exactly do you go to school to learn debate skills such as this?

I think you're correct - the whole argument is a logical absurdity - stretching the medicare/medicaid type program to everyone is what 'single payer' is all about. If it doesn't work as intended with a smaller subset of people who are subsidized by what everyone else is charged, why on earth do they think increasing those who have free/low cost benefits while simultaneously reducing those who pay for the programs through taxes and higher bills will result in a better system for all is totally beyond my ability to understand.
Every time I think about it, All I hear in my head is the sound of a game show buzzer that goes off when the contestant answers incorrectly. BZZZZT!!!!

The DUmmies believe that in the end taxes will be raised only on the rich, and not themselves. They refuse to believe that the wealthy can't be taxed enough to cover insurance for everyone.
