Charlie Crist picks his personal stooge for Senate seat

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/29/us/politics/29florida...

Ok Ladies and gents, why am I posting this to the General Discussion forum?

First off, we just saw a Senate seat handed to someone who has never been elected to any office. If the Democrats tried that, there would be blood. Hell, they did not like the fact Al Franken actually WON an Election.

Second, he is already planning to fight Obama on Healthcare.

Third, this fellow has already promised not to run against Crist, thus ensuring Crist does not have to fight an incumbent for the seat. This bastard is using a stooge to ensure he gets a Senate seat for himself.

But last, and far from least, we need to be careful of Crist. He is a master of playing the "I am not like those mean scary GOP types, I am a moderate." It helps that Jeb is an enemy of his, and that for years, he was accused of being Gay, and therefore was made a target by the Jesus freaks. He will shamelessly try to use this to appear like a "nice" GOP. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! as Madfloridian can tell you, his actual POLICY is a libertarian wet dream! He actually cut school budgets more than Jeb did! He is exactly the sort that the GOP might be depserate enough to put up in 2012!

So....who did the governor of Florida appoint?

Damn primitives, always leaving important information out of their bonfires.

The green commode primitive:

3. there have been many senators (some very good ones) who had never held office before there election to the senate. I don't necessarily think political experience is necessarily always a plus. Other life experience can be helpful too. But in the case of the FL person we were bound to dislike anybody who was appointed.

Yep.

4. Point taken, but...

This would not stink so bad if we were not fresh from the war over Al Franken, where the GOP bought themselves three months more time with one less Democratic vote.

Also, while I would not have been thrilled about a GOP, Lemieux is BLATANTLY a seatwarmer for the Senate seat Charlie sold his soul for. This is at a time when the number one enemy of most Americans is the Senate.

5. Lamieux was Jeb's campaign manager - enough said

I guess I will need to get out and campaign for Kendrick Meek - he has the best chance of any Democratic candidate in the race, though his stats against Crist are not that great.

I'm going to have to split my time - among the Florida Governor, Senator, US Representative, and State Representative all up for important conflicts, it would be hard to choose just one to campaign for!

So far, it looks like I will need to volunteer for Alex Sink (vs Bill McCollum{R}), Kendrick Meek (vs Crist{R}), Al Lawson (vs Allen Boyd {Blue Dog}), and whoever wins the primary for State Representative (I can't decide which Democrat to support). I wish the damned Florida Democratic Party would let me just go volunteer for the office, but so far they are not interested (?).

Well, didn't the demos try it with Caroline Kennedy, in New York?

How many offices had Caroline held before?

Well, you know, they said, you know, she didn't get the seat because, you know, she is such a miserable, you know, speaker.

To me, she sounded just like Lord Zero without a teleprompter.

IMHO Caroline was far better.

Hmmm I wonder if they will want Al Franken for President. After all he will have the same experience Obama had by then.  :lmao:

I find it funny they are blasting Crist for doing what they and teddy were trying to get Massachusetts to do. Appoint someone who is for "health care". Only difference is Crist didn't have to change the law.

One more difference between Fat Teddy and Crist--(D) as opposed to (R), even if Crist is a RINO.
