President Hugo Chávez has vowed to slow down Venezuela's march towards revolutionary socialism and to deliver a more pragmatic and competent government.
He said he would focus less on ideology and more on tackling crime and food shortages in recognition of losing a referendum last month. "I'm forced to reduce the speed of the march. This will be the year of the three Rs: revision, rectification and relaunching," he said.

Chavez's meaning of rectification==The Venezuela citizens are going to get it in the Rectum.
Two American oil companies including EXXON have pulled out of this country due to the nationalization of the oil industry. That will mean lower production, lower dollars and more poverty. Hugo better watch his back because this country is going downhill. With poor management which includes proper maintenance of their most valuable resource and income, Hugo's problems are just beginning.
In the US, you are gradually seeing the CIGO signs disappearing to Petro Oil (I think). He has pissed off so many Americans that they would rather go elseware to buy their gas. That is the reason for the name change.

Two oil companies including Exxon have sued Venezuela in a World Court to recover damages for the assets they left behind. It will be interesting to see how the ruling comes out but I doubt this commie will ever agree to pay one red cent.

This is the way tin pot dictators work. This is the way of Castro, Stalin, Mao, Mugabe.. any old one. You force the crisis, people are fearful of things so they hold on to the current government as the one steady rock in the midst of change.
Chavez has been moving slowly here, but now he is ready to speed things up. The next step is the "night of the long knives" move. This is where the dictator suddenly turns on some of his most ardent supporters, kills a lot of them off, and the polity is so glad to see them go, that they don't notice that lots of civil liberties died with them. This is what happened to Trotsky, Rhoem, and Gueverra.
Chavez is glad to see the oil revenues dissipate. It will only make him stronger in country. Mass starvation works too.
