Kicked out of a Catholic church

How @ksuchoice & I got kicked out of a Catholic church today: a repro rights supporter from Wamego, KS responded to a Planned Parenthood email about a town hall w/ Rep Lynn Jenkins on 8/25. Thinking he was a supporter, E & I agreed to drop some PP materials re HCR & repro health on our way out to Hays. He gave us the street address of where to find him...when we pulled up, we saw it was a Catholic parish. Thinking maybe: "social justice Catholics? In Wamego?" we went in, found him, went over the talking points w him, and gave him some buttons & a t-shirt. He acted weird, but took it anyway. E went out to get more tshirts from the car. He handed the pink tshirt to one of the women in the office, & she asked "but why does it say Planned Parenthood?" Um. Because that's the organization you all responded to? Man: "Wait, so you support abortions?" "I'm pro-choice, and PP is a pro-choice organization." "I think it's time for you to leave. Take all of this. Take your buttons, too." And thus, we were kicked out of a Cathlic church. Awesome.

In case anyone's forgotten, the Die alte Sau primitive is the one who has an ancient "aunt" who's a nun, and who got into trouble for advocating birth control and abortions for nuns.

Anyway, the Die alte Sau primitive doesn't get the responses she expected.

1. Seems like they should have figured out where you were coming from . . . in about the first 15 seconds. But hey, that's just me . . .

2. Wow - what courageous rebels

So wait - PP sends out an email about a Representative's town hall and these geniuses assume he's a supporter? And when they find out it's at a Catholic Church they STILL assume he's a supporter?

You know, you don't have to agree with the Church's position on reproductive rights but you'd have to admit it's pretty damn consistent. If you drive up to a Catholic Parish hall and still bring in your PP gear you'd have to assume you'll be asked to leave. (...and that's a far cry from being 'kicked out' but not nearly as provocative.)

3. +1

I'm a lapsed catholic, but it seems they went in looking for trouble.

4. Pretty good bet

And looking for trouble that had zero chance of any repercussions.

Very brave.

Not.

I missed this thread the first time around, but it's a good find to demonstrate just how stupid they are.  There were several more pwning comments that followed the above, along the same lines, and she comes to her defense with a non sequitor:

19. I am related to a whole family of devout Catholics who are pro choice.

Do you remember the good old days, when schoolteachers were assumed to be smart, fine upstanding citizens of impeccable moral fiber?

You cannot define a religious creed, it defines you...that's the whole point: to ascent to something higher than yourself. You might as well claim to be an atheist Catholic.

It would make about as much sense as anything else posted by a DUmp regular. (Moles not included)

I know quite a few Catholics, not one of them would admit to this! They would be excommunicated in a heart tick!

It is not possible to be a Catholic, devout or otherwise, and be pro-choice.
Anyone who actively supports abortion has placed their immortal soul in jeopardy.
That's not my opinion, that is the doctrine of the Church.

Fat Ted may have confessed the murder of that girl and done penance.
If so, that sin may have been forgiven by God.
He loudly campaigned for the killng of infants until his death.

One thing that really ticks me off about the Catholic Church is their unwillingness to Ex-Communicate American politicians that support abortion.  Until they do, some rank and file Catholics will continue to believe that it is okay to do so.

Unfortunately, the powers that be, that run the Catholic Church, are just as greedy as the politicians and the Mafiosos they support. They do after all soak up the donations from their "freinds". And sometimes blackmail them in order to get them!
