Should a US President of any Party be able to declare an American citizen
an Enemy Combatant while that person is living within the USA and has committed no known crime; and in doing so remove all Constitutional rights granted all Americans. If the answer is no then Bush* should be held accountable for doing so. To me this is his highest crime. To arbitrarily and single handedly remove a US Citizen's Constitutional Rights without any form of trial or redress. This is tyranny IMO. Bush* did this and no one seems to feel he did anything wrong..

Sorry but if you are planning terrorist attacks against US citizens then you lose your rights, better luck next time Padilla...
-
If he could charge the domestic enemies of the USA the entire democratic party would be in jail.

Too bad we didn't do that to Lindh and ship his ass off to Camp X-Ray

If he could charge the domestic enemies of the USA the entire democratic party would be in jail.
Two notable exceptions: Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.

Isn't Lieberman an independent now? But you are right on Zell. There may even be 1 or 2 others. But the rest of them, starting with Pelosi and the 2 presidential candidates, are traitors.

I included Lieberman because he used to be a Dem, and on most issues, he's right with them.

Yes, you DUmasses a president IS allowed to declare a US citizen an enemy combatant, i.e. George Washington calling out federal troops against the Whiskey Rebellion. If a president is allowed to do it vs domestic tax proresters all the moreso is he allowed to do so against someone seeking to engage in unlawful acts of war against the US in the name of a foreign power.
What is the check and balance?
Simple. The president issues an order naming a specific person and a specific reason for his actions. If that order proves to be unfounded or worse malicious than the president's name is inextricably linked to that action making him susceptible to the wrath of the people and their representatives.
Get it?
